  1. Really delicious sandwiches (every ingredient is top notch) and incredibly friendly, obliging, and patient service (even for an indecisive customer like me).

Although there were "only" 3 meatballs in my sandwich, they were about 3 ounces each, there was definitely more than 1/2 pound of meat — so along with bread and broccoli rabe and roasted red peppers and extra sharp provolone cheese, my $11 (with tax) sandwich was pretty large, definitely affordable comparatively, and last but not least it was really, very tasty.

  2. Went in for first time and I will come back  if I am in the mood.  I got the Italian with the works and it was good.  Prices are a little high but the quality offset that.  The sandwich was well made although a little messy.  I liked the toppings and didn't find the red peppers overpwering.  It was nice to get something different in terms of meat.  The genoa salami, coppa, and sopresatta were nice.  People were nice.  They are on Belly but the monitor didn't scan mine.

  3. First of all, major Philly props for calling them hoagies rather than subs. Dave has a very specific agenda and he executes it flawlessly. I always order the Italian Mix when I first try a place and this was a great one.

I think the small menu may keep some people away, but it should't. Whereas a lot of places have a big menu with lots of combinations, Dave wants you to start with a basic meat build then add pretty much anything you want. Everything is fresh and top quality. The bread is great too, and at about 8 inches it's the right size to fill you up without putting you in a food coma.

Be advised that Dave has a couple of quirks in the way he wraps the sandwich. Some of the paper was folded into the sandwich, causing a surprising first bite, and the wrapping was open at the end causing me to drip some of the wonderful dressing (balsamic, emulsified with a bit of mayo) onto my pants. Both are easily corrected. I am not going to question the maestro but will advise you to adjust the wrapping to your own preference.

  4. I like a sandwich that's got variety, so Dave's Hoagies is right up my ally. I ordered the Italian with the works. I love the fact that this sandwich has hot cherry peppers and artichokes, giving the overall taste some zing. Unlike the other reviewers, I didn't think the sandwich was lacking meat, but the veggies/toppings definitely take up most of the room on the sandwich. If you like meaty sandwiches, this place probably won't satisfy you. But if you are like me and just watched the documentary "Forks Over Knives" and decided that a all-plant-based diet might be in your future, this is a good stepping stone to still getting some meat on your sandwich, but finding yourself satisfied with the veggie-heavy meal. And to the comments about the size, mine measured 8 inches as well. But, I try not to eat too much at lunchtime, lest I get zonk out during an afternoon meeting, so this was the perfect size. In fact, I scarfed down half in about 3 minutes and am currently staring at the other half, trying to decide if I have room to eat it…

I do wish the bread could be toasted, but that's just a personal preference of liking softer bread.

    P.S., Dave is super friendly!

  5. Very friendly staff. They even offered free samples of their soup and helped me decide on a sandwich.
Unfortunately, I have a HUGE appetite and the sandwiches here are small, and not cheap. I had the tuna sandwich, yes, it was delicious, but I was still hungry and had to buy more food.
    Make them sandwiches bigger!

  6. I'm not a hoagie aficionado, so this will be from an outsider's point of view.  The sandwich itself  was decent.  The ingredients were fresh, but the I found the onions completely overpowered the rest of the taste.  The price is also somewhat high for what you get.
