One of the better lunch places in the area to get the most bang for your buck. The pasta lunch dishes are generous portions, you may even have enough leftovers for dinner. For $12, the Penne Vodka and Fettuccini Bolognese will not disappoint.
Not a bad spot for lunch. The prices are reasonable (considering the area). I got a decent sized salad with a few fixin's for only $9.50 and my wife got a pretty good sandwich. Both were fresh and tasted very good. The only drawback is that the place itself is a bit small and narrow, but otherwise overall worth a trip.
I really liked this place. My salad was fresh but a little spicy. Nice good options and nice sitting area. Would definitely return again.
I ordered delivery on a Saturday to 30 Rockefeller around 11am. The order arrived around 12pm, which was great timing. Unfortunately, that's all that Mangia is… good delivery. The food on the other hand? The food represents the quintessential overpriced Manhattan quick-lunch.
Warning: I didn't actually dine in/see the establishment, so I can only comment on the food. Delivery is great though!
Vegetarian Tomato Soup with Eggplant and Parmesan (Medium- $5) Pretty good soup! I'm a fan. Not to salty, but nothing out of this world either. The eggplant was spongy, but that's what I've come to realize about eggplant it soup… it gets overcooked.
Sopressata Pressed Panini ($7.95) Smoked mozzarella, grilled eggplant, arugula and balsamic glaze on pizza bianca. Euuuugh, skip skip. The mozzarella tasted okay, but with everything else (mainly the dry bread) it just wasn't a good combination. The there were a few leaves of arugula, the eggplant was spongy, and I wish I took a picture of this $8 sandwich since it looked pitiful.
Green "Goddess" Juice ($8)- BLEH. Oh jeez, I thought I was a lover of all green juices until I had this concoction. It tastes like yucky ginger juice that is watered down with hints of spinach. Go easy on the ginger, Mangia… I felt like I was taking shots as a freshman in college but instead of vodka with soda, the vodka was green monster juice and the soda was heaps of water. Skip the green "goddess" juice!
I am pretty grateful to say my job pays for lunches & dinners after working XX amount of hours in a week+Saturdays, so I can try various places not on my own dime. Would I spend my own money on a lunch of Mangia? Nooo way- keep walking to the next quick-lunch place people!
I come here every so often for lunch. They offer a wide selection of food but I usually get the sandwiches and pasta. The food is fresh and the staff is always willing to go above beyond if you want your sandwich for example made a certain way ( I like mines extra toasty ). While, it isn't a sit down restaurant, after you placed your order and you are staying in, they do bring you order to you. My only thing is the place is a bit on the pricey side.
Stopped here for a quick breakfast this morning, as it is near my office. Here are my thoughts:
Ambiance: Really nice. Calm and serene. A great place to start your day.
Service: Cashier was friendly. Didn't interact with staff aside from her.
Food: Oatmeal wasn't too tasty and was clumpy, as though it had been sitting out for a while. I've had better oatmeal at so many other places, at half the price.
Prices: I paid $4 for a tiny container of subpar oatmeal, and $2 for a bottle of water. I think we can all conclude Mangia is on the pricier side. (As a reference, the aforementioned better oatmeal that I had at Bread and Butter was $2.)
Overall: The restaurant is serene and I'd love to return, I just won't try the oatmeal again.
Had to stop back and give this place another chance and I am happy I did. I got and acai berry smoothie that was great and a blueberry scone. Special shout to the management here, they care about their customers and made sure my experience here was much better then the first go round.
If you are in the flatiorn area check em out!!!
I. Love. Mangia. It's right next to the building where I work, but I will admit I've ordered delivery once. Whether it be delivery or actually going inside and getting food myself, Mangia's pasta never disappoints and neither does their prices.
