  1. I hate giving bad reviews but here we go.  Service at this place is awful.

A group of friends and I stopped here on our way back to NJ for a bite to eat.  They have a take out section and a sit down restaurant.  We opted for the sit down restaurant.

It seems that unless you are willing to spend an obscene amount of money, the waiter will ignore your table and question your food and drink choices.

    Not cool.

  2. The food here is not consistent enough for me to return. My first time I had the churasco, and it was great with tostones. A friend had the lobster salad. Amazing!

Last night I did the garlic shrimp, with tostones. The shrimp was good, the garlic sauce was horrendous. It tasted like it had been burnt, and other things had been added to it to mask the burning! Friends had the wings. One set of wings tasted like cinnamon. Another tasted like tabasco. Neither were edible.

The waitresses are usually really nice, and ours was very attentive BUT the food just isn't doing it for me and since I don't smoke hookah I see no reason to return.

  3. Place is beautiful, nice and relaxing. Food is delicious and the service was good. The music was cool but note that it is a Spanish place sooo the only kind of music played is Spanish. The place also has hookah but only downstairs. The drinks are strong and worth it. Also note that happy hour is only downstairs up until 8. Which is good considering other places don't run happy hour that late. Please try the desert I forgot the name but I posted the picture. They also have a large menu. So even if you don't eat red meat they have a ton of seafood and chicken. Def would come here again. One con is language barrier but they are helpful and try to understand you the best way possible

  4. Came here to celebrate my cousins birthday with a large group of family and friends, in my opinion the restaurant is nice the only problem for me was the location, South Beach is located nowhere near "South Beach", nor is there a beach or anything tropical about the areas, this restaurant is located uptown in the middle of the hood, parking is very difficult to find, but they do offer Valet parking for $10, if your from around the area or familiar with area then I guess it's ok and your probably used to the neighborhood, but for a brooklyn Boy like me, I felt totally out of place, a part of town I wouldn't normally travel to.

The restaurant is beautiful with 2 floors, they have an extensive drink and food menu, the staff is cool, they tried their very best to attend to our needs which was good.

The food is basically Spanish food but with a little touch of class.

I recommend the Salmon soup, it's was the bomb.

There's nothing really unique about the drink or food menu, everything on the menu was ok but you can find eveything they offer as good or even better…. elsewhere.

I will most likely not return simply because this restaurant is out of my way and I didn't find anything that made my experience memorable (besides my cousins birthday).

  5. Would never come here again.

After a full day of brunch and drinking, we stopped here before the bus ride home. We order apps and 3 drinks for 4 ppl. Our waiter was EXTREMELY rude He said "that's all?" and was visibly upset about us inly ordering apps. He didnt check on us, didnt refill our water, and took too long to give us our bill. Horrible service. Food was bleh.

  6. NOT IMPRESSED. Like at all!

It is definitely very nice. The ambiance of the restaurant is great, the restaurant is beautiful.

There was no wait time, which on a saturday night should have been a red flag. However we were seated immediately and I was starving so it seemed great. THIS PLACE IS SUPER EXPENSIVE FOR NO REASON. The food is not even good honestly. I ordered chicken with mozzarella and spinach and it was so damn hard. The empanadas I had for appetizers were okay but nothing to brag about, or mention really.

There menu is not too bad, the drink menu definitely is. Additionally, some of the workers do not understand any english which can be inconvenient for those who are not Hispanic or do not speak Spanish. I asked for the drink menu and the waiter was LOST…thankfully I told him in Spanish and then we got the night started.

The drinks are nice and strong. I had a chinola mojito which was different but it was good. This is what gave it the one star along with the pretty lights inside.

The service kind of sucked as well. I don't know, there was nothing positive. I will not be returning here to eat.

  7. The Service was very good, though the service was some of the best seen in a while,  the restaurant is definitely very nice and the ambiance of the restaurant is good. But I am only giving 2 stars to this place because the food.

I went to a brunch with one of my uncle and his friends; we came here because one of his friends, make a suggestion to come here.
First thing I ask was with beers they have in drafts, the server told me that they didn't have beer on drafts, I was really surprised so a order a bottle of presidente the beers was pretty cold.

Then I ask for the brunch menu, and he told me we didn't do brunch here.

We decided to share some appetizers.
Empanadas mix: like 5 type of empanadas, (shrimp, chicken, cheese, beef) and fry calamari.
I have eaten empanadas and fry calamari before, they didn't have nothing special on their taste.

For my main course I had the skirt steak and shrimp with tostones on the side, the portion was very big cannot complaint about that, but the taste was not that great like I as expected, I eaten better on the past.

  8. Horrible service! We were just standing there waiting to be seating, it took over five minutes for someone to tell us we have to go straight upstairs. Once upstairs we stood there confused because yet again there was no host to sit us, finally a man came to sit us, after menu was on the table for about 10 minutes the waiter finally came over to take drink order, yet we haven't got a drink menu yet…no problem I already knew I wanted sangria. Took about another ten minutes for the drink to come & for us to order. The guy came out with bread but completely skipped our table, there was also no water refill. When the appetizers finally came they were good, shrimp empanadas & calamari. Nothing special about them, but edible….mayo/ketchup makes everything taste better. For the entree we both had the churassco with rice & beans, steak could have been a lot better, it needed salt or maybe adobo, pretty much flavorless. The beans also could have had more flavor, pretty disappointing for a Latin restaurant considering we use a lot of flavor in our food. Finally I was over it, finished my good but strong sangria, and asked for the check. Which took 20 minutes! Mind you the place isn't packed! I would say a total of 7 tables, the waiter said the machine to print it out wasn't working. While waiting we noticed the people sitting next to us becoming more & more aggravated, so nosy me asked if they were still waiting for food, she told me they have been there a hour & a half and no good yet, meanwhile we got there before them! I felt bad even eating after it heard that. It was a couple with their three children, the daughter at one point just wanted to go to McDonald's. Finally as we got out check their food came. To my surprise their food was very simple! The mother ordered a chicken salad, husband monfongo, and the kids had pizza, and chicken fingers with French fries. There was absolutely no apologizes for the family, which made me sick! I am all about CUSTOMER SERVICE! Most likely if I receive great service & the food sucks I would feel bad writing a bad review. But this place has horrendous service & the food isn't anything to rave about, I've had better. Word of advise to people who are thinking about going there, go a couple of blocks down to casa monfongo and eat there instead!
