I knew this restaurant was going to be good as soon as I saw a barrel of horchata placed at the front. The food is great, and there hot sauce kicks. The backyard patio is decked out with all kinds of mexican items, it was so refreshing to sit out there since the area outside is so busy and bustling with people. It was also refreshing to find something other than fast food in this area. The prices are decent and the service is pretty good. Everything tastes authentic and the guacamole was very tasty.
My family loves this place. Always amazing good and top quality service. Highly recommend it for authentic Mexican food. The quesadilla and carnita tacos were delicious. My sister had the pineapple and passion fruit drink and I loved my husband's lemonade. Juices were all natural and delicious..
By far, one of the best spots in the area and probably one of the best Mexican spots in the Bronx. It is small and not a lot of peeps know about it…shhhhh
The food is good, cheap, comes out quick and the staff are nice. The only issue? you will leave smelling like food…but who cares!
The Bronx is making a big culinary wave! And in large its because of this place, as a former Bronx girl when I lived there I never ate at any sit down restaurants..I'd always travel to Manhattan, Queens, even Brooklyn. Now I find myself traveling from Queens to see what the bx is offering. I only discovered this place cause I was staying at the new hotel next door, the Opera House (also fantastic) and was hungry and tired and did not want to travel to Manhattan. Mexicocina has now become one of my favorite Mexican spots! The horchata and other agua frescas are all homemade and so refreshing! The steak and the tacos are all seasoned well! The flan is also terrific! The waitstaff have the patience of a saint… I watched a customer change her order 3 times, and the waitress never gave an attitude..Only downside I find is they are a bit slow, it took a good 15 mins to get my check, after asking twice during a non-busy time. I guess its great they're not rushing you out the door..but I'd like to pay before sunrise the next morning!!
Good food, nice service, tasty sangria and margarita. We had the fajitas trio. The green salsa they serve with the chips is different to what we are used to but very refreshing.
