  1. So much fun at Red Lion! It's a decently sized bar in the West Village with bands that play live covers of hit songs – overall a really upbeat vibe. There's a space in front of the stage for people to dance, but there's also a long bar to the side where you can stand. I've gone to Red Lion three times and would recommend going on a Friday night. I've been once on a Saturday and it was very crowded. Both times I went on Fridays, there was the perfect amount of people.

  2. An early day drinking bar hop calls for divey spots and lots of shots. We walked in to around 5 people at the bar, and got some pickle backs plus shot specials (TYBG Yelp). I'm pretty sure the shot specials were the Something Something shot, which is anything they have too much of. We added in the Birthday Suit shot, which tastes just like cake! Yum. We finished it off with a Rowdy Red Lion, they were extra strong drinks. Decently priced, we dropped around 6.50$ per drink. This is a nice spot to start off the night with, or grab a drink with friends and catch up.

  3. ROAARRRR. seriously, i roared with delight when i heard the lion was serving up 10 cent wings last night. cant beat that value.

the wings themselves were just decent, under sauced/seasoned was the consensus among our table. still, they were crispy and hot, and you cant really screw up wings.

elevation from 3 stars to 4 can be attributed to the live music. dude last night had the place rocking with keyboard covers of hits young and old. our waitress even joined in to sing a few tracks. cool and fun!

sounds like they have other deals going on too (taco wednesday?). look forward to trying them all out.

  4. This bar has all the elements I love, a nice and spacious layout, dimly lit, lcds playing sports, great happy hour specials with very good food, and live music. The staff is very welcoming making and the wait time are very reasonable.

The happy hours are m-f 3pm-8pm with $3 beers, shots, $5 well, $6 martinis, and $4 appetizers and wings. Tuesdays 10 cent wings and wednesdays $1 tacos. Whoah. The wings are great, do try the terriyaki.

You must try the Red Lion beer, it surprisingly earned a place as onw of my favorite beers, keep in mind that I am not a beer connoisseur. A very good place to hang out with friends. This is definitely now one of my go to bars.

  5. With a beautiful sunny day outside, was scoping Bleeker for some outside seating during lunch. Red Lion offered some sunlight and decent meal options.

Ordered the Tomato, Mozzarella, Arugula, & Pesto sandwich on wheat bread ($9) and a SoCo Sangria ($11). Found the drink to be a little expensive, but it was so nice out, a beer just wouldn't suffice. Not too strong, but refreshing enough with the meal. The sandwich was warm, but probably could have toasted the bread. The side salad it came with was good with the dressing.

Yelp check-in offers a free shot with a drink – just wasn't going to do that for an office lunch. Fine service and okay meal for the area (but you can get cheaper).

  6. Great bar to come to for live music and drinks.  Nothing fancy at all and has a dive bar feel.  I am not sure about the food but be sure to check it out on a friday/saturday night.

  7. Been here a bunch of times for food and drinks. It's either dead or packed. It doesn't rally have a specific theme or feel about which is kind of blah but you can take a varied crowd here and be okay

  8. The Red Lion is a great non-bro, non-college student infested bar in the NYU area. Though there is a cover to get in ($10), it's worth it for the live music. At 11:30pm on a Saturday night, my group of friends and I had no problem getting in. Yes it was very busy inside, but unlike most obnoxious places, the line wasn't out the door and down the block.

Inside, the crowd is very diverse, which is a nice change of scenery from the surrounding bars in the area. The music was great too. Though I'm not the biggest fan of 70's hits, the band was awesome and you could tell they had a lot of passion for their music.
