  1. I have never heard of this restaurant until I came here with my team at my company for dinner in Mid-August.

The restaurant's layout and decor is a little old style with wood panels and etc. I swear there was a weird scent lingering around the restaurant too. Any way, the staff was nice and friendly, but service was a little slow.

We ordered the baked clams to share and those were really good and they were real clams, but what I really enjoyed were the mussels. I normally don't eat mussels, but as soon as I sunk my teeth into it, I loved it. They were bathed in a little garlic oil and oh my goodness, it was yum! I would come back here just for the mussels.

I tried the Linguini with White Clams and was quite disappointed with it actually. It was drenched in so much oil which made it hard to enjoy. The second biggest disappointment of all is that they used canned clams.

I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I really didn't like my dish and it didn't feel authentic or tasty either. It was a big let down.

  2. One of the rare places you will find in Brooklyn–a classic Italian restaurant. The portions are large and family style-be prepared to share.

Everything tastes like it comes from a nice old Italian mother's kitchen.

  3. In my opinion Two Toms is below par. The food, drinks, service and decor(or total lack of any decor) just do not even come close to other restaurants in Brooklyn. It is very ordinary Italian American food that is totally uninspired and poorly executed. I definitely would not recommend it.

  4. The place is classic old school Brooklyn. The owners make you feel like family. The pork chop looks like something Fred Flintstone would order. Come with an empty stomach and relax awhile while your wine carafe gets refilled a few times.

  5. This restaurant scream very traditional Italian from the wooden wall paneling to the long tables put together to fit big groups to the huge serving plates/ bowls. The first thing I noticed is that there was a melody in the room. The melody of friends and family in each of the tables chatting and laughing and having what seems great conversations. It was sweet and had a nice ring to it.

So what should you expect from Two Toms? Well, expect to order wine because the price is so cheap. Expect the food portions to be huge (especially the pork chops). Expect that the folks who run the restaurant to leave you alone and let you enjoy your meal until you are ready to leave. If you are the ones waiting for a table, expect a long wait because people who dine here not only come for the food but for the atmosphere. Expect a decently priced meal.

  6. tip:  run down setting but surprisingly excellent food

Ceiling needs paint, place looks rather outdated but the food is great and in huge portions. steamed clam broth is awesome (dip bread in it please), pork chop is a steal at 16 bucks (everyone gets this).  Grilled with no seasoning, perfect.  Filet Mignon is huge at 24oz, 45 bucks which is a great deal.  Hard to believe the atmosphere and the two Toms with sweatpants can deliver good service and outstanding food.

  7. Old school! Wood paneling still on the walls. What amazed me the most was I only saw one guy in the kitchen cooking for a full restaurant with about 35 people. The pork chop was really good and I'm not a fan of pork at all. Get the pork chop. You won't be disappointed. I had the shell steak. It was tasty but not nearly as good as the chop. It's not something I would order again either. I eat a lot I usually never leave any food but I couldn't finish that shell steak. Next time I'll go for the filet mignon or t-bone. Classic spot.

  8. You might walk in and be tempted to walk right back out.  But don't!  The inside of the restaurant which is covered with wood paneling and smells like smoke, is not representative of the food, which is amazing.  I don't think I've ever had a better pasta dish.  And the bacon appetizer is amazing — just get it and ask questions later.

This is a hole in the wall place with not much of an atmosphere, but definitely worth visiting for an amazing Italian meal.  Keep in mind the service and food preparation is a bit slow, so give yourself some extra time if you need to be somewhere.
