Bad food. Bad drinks. But they do have $5 martinis on Tuesdays … Just too bad they aren't good . The only reason I would go back is for the atmosphere .. They have a fun outdoor bar. But the drinks and food aren't good…
Awesome place!!! went with two girlfriends for a Christmas dinner and had a lovely night! we started with the Mac and cheese to share which was deliciously cheese with a crunchy top! I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders which got an A+. My one friend got the parmigiana crusted chicken sandwich and is still raving about it!! The staff was busy and the place was packed but everyone got the job done
This review is for the tavern/courtyard section. I haven't been to the wine bar/upscale section in ages, so I will review that once I have been back.
The tavern/restaurant section is fairly large, and appears to be at least 100 years old if not older. It's kind of cool to see beams and pillars from the 1800s.
The tavern side has a huge u shaped bar with many flat screen tvs. It's an ideal place for watching sports, and the tvs are tuned to many different games so odds are you can see your favorite team.
There is a large outdoor courtyard with a bar and many tables. During nice weather it's jammed, as we don't have many places with large outdoor seating areas with a bar.
I tend to have one of the burgers on the menu, as I'm a big fan of them. They will also substitute onion rings for fries if you ask. The wings are better than average, and tend to be the appetizer I order the most.
Prices are fairly reasonable, roughly $12 for a burger.
The staff has always been friendly and helpful.
The only reason why I'm giving this place 2 stars is the bar area is nice when you enter in. It looks to be a great place to socialize and enjoy drinks in open air setting. Nice decor all over.
To sum up the food here…. nothing was memorable. The food here pretty much seemed like just plain ole bar food. Blan as can be, flavlorless, spiceless( unless salt and peper does it for ya).
The drinks were okay, just not a fan this place for dining.
Never coming here to have dinner again, but maybe drinks.
It's interesting to see that both Stage Houses (Scotch Plains & Somerset) earn the same rating by yelpers. There are a lot of reviews for both. Must be consistent… I have been to the Scotch Plains location about 5 times, but definitely not 10.
I think the food is very good. It leans on the gastronomic side. The menu is varied between apps, salads, sides, entrées, and hand-helds. I'm sorry for the lack of pics, but I tend to have to force myself to take pics of my food.
The clams were good, nachos were definitely home-made, pulled pork sandwich looked great, quesadilla was complimented, and the tuna tartar was on point.
Today was a really nice Friday so the patio was busy! For me, a married man in his 30's, 4-9pm is perfect. I noticed a much younger crowd after 9pm. Security showed up, with wristbands, and I felt like they went from restaurant to club.
Good food, but choose your happy hour…
This is a great restaurant with a huge menu! They have about 5 different sections for dining including three individual upstairs sections. They menu was generally "feel good" food and I can't say I didn't like anything I tried. I went for a cousin's birthday (and came back two weeks later because I wanted to introduce my sister and brother-in-law to their delicious choices). If you go, Ive tried and recommend the following: meatloaf, oysters, loaded nachos, loaded fries, ciabatta pizza, onion rings, sautéed shrimp, chicken saltimbocca with basil pesto cream sauce (ravioli). Cheers and I hope you enjoy stagehouse as much as I do!!
This is just like the stage house in Somerset. The menu is a little dif mostly on the drink side tho. The building is really cool. Super old and has many different rooms. Great hang out spot for any occasion.
Extremely impressed with the look of this place. For one, it's massive and they have several rooms for small parties. They have an outdoors with an outdoor bar as well. For dinner, I ordered the chicken cordon bleu which was amazing. The portion was large, filling, and came with fettuccine linguini underneath. The chicken was juicy and the sauce on top was plentiful. I also ordered an appetizer of goat cheese ravioli with basil pesto sauce on the side. Although delicious, it was a little pricey for an appetizer. Their drink prices are also very expensive at an average of $8-10 a mixed drink. I guess this is a trend in Jersey now where they cost this much for drinks, but I'm kind of tired of it. If I have two drinks, that's basically the price of another meal. They have a billiards room and other type of bar upstairs as well, which looked nice. Overall, the place has a lot of potential and I would definitely recommend this for anyone.
