A long day at Central Park for Papal visit made us tired, hungry and thirsty. We were led to the 60th /5th Ave exit after the event. This was the first descent and reasonable place we saw after those high end restaurants along the vicinity. It's a deli style and not much choices left as it will basically be closing pretty soon. Girlfriends ended up having soups/ bread while myself tried their Spanish yellow veggie fried rice to match with my leftover egg cake from Whole foods market. I have tried Spanish rice before but I love how their's tastes… a little pricy for the serving size though. Sufficient tables to carry the crowd, regular size dining area. Restroom is upstairs. Convenient dining location.
Will return and consider the place for next visit of ever in the area. Anyway, did not try anything much from their menu.
Service was quick, but where you're supposed to order is a mystery. There's just a high counter showcasing all of their different items, and with me being a little short it was a bit awkward to scream my order over the station where the specific food is cooked. I decided on breakfast, but they also have lunch items.
The food was good for a quick meal, but it wasn't anything spectacular. I ordered French toast, over medium eggs, and bacon. The bacon isn't freshly cooked. It's just warmed. The eggs came out with one being over easy and the white was still runny while the other having no runny yoke at all. The French toast was the best part, because it was freshly made.
I also feel like they swindled us because the menu states a certain price but they said because it's past ten the prices were a few dollars higher. I didn't see that stated anywhere.
interesting that everyone else gave it bad reviews…
i never really had a bad experience here, maybe because i only stick to their pre-made sandwiches and a bag of chips whenever i take out from this place. which by the way, is very good and they have so many to choose from. their ice coffee is also pretty good as well–a bit steep ($3.50 for a large), but good. oh, and EL employees get a discount for their lunch.
Decent place. Had lunch here, after hitting the uptown Crate & Barrel today.
Counter order seems a little disorganized, but they have small tables.
Good prices for this area of the city. 2 egg sandwiches, a soda, and some potato salad for about $12.
People kind of just leave their trash on the tables, since there are no obvious trash cans, which makes it a little messy.
I was thinking to myself recently… Self, I thought, you haven't done a two-star review in awhile. Part of me is happy because I seem to be finding places that are awesome. But maybe I was being overly generous. Difficult to say. But it all changed when I went to All About Food.
It's one of those all-in-one delis that don't do anything well. The place was kind of dirty, the letters were falling off their sign outside, and it was layed out in a way that made it crowded when it didn't need to be.
The lettuce in my salad wasn't good, the avocado was old and kind of thrown in hastily, and the dressing wasn't good either. The guy didn't even chop up my salad when I asked. Yuck.
I don't plan on going back, and you shouldn't either.
It's a fine option but here's a few things to know.
1. Across from WORLD FAMOUS FAO SCHWARZ and the APPLE store. This means, LOTS of Tourists.
2. No clear path to understand the lines for each station. This translates to Order and Payment Mayhem.
3. If you want a platter of hot food, entree with two sides, head to the back. Very good food and quantity worth the $10.50 price tag.
Soups, sandwiches, and beverages also offered. Several tables inside or else grab to go. Why not grab a chair (free) out front of Apple and enjoy the weather?
I went here to pick out food to bring to Central Park for a picnic since they have a pretty close vicinity to the park. They have a make your own salad option where a medium 4 toppings was $7 and 6 toppings was $8. They had a large selection of toppings to choose from including sautéed mushrooms, eggplant, grapes, apples, oranges, beets, meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, croutons, and more. They also have a selection of sandwiches that are shown in the display, but you can ask them to make you whatever you want (I asked for a turkey, American cheese, and guac sandwich on a roll). They also have small fruit salads. They have a lot of as apple and water options. Their prices are definitely more on the pricy side but it was perfect if you are heading to the park since the location was so perfect.
