“i decided on some whimsy and spice brownies and have to agree with Jackie Y that these are dangerous!”

  1. Some days, you just want to sip a refreshing smoothie!

Been here a few times on afternoon breaks. "Freshly" made fruit smoothies are blended in the morning and sit on a semi-iced platter all day. I'd rather get a coffee from ING's Peet's across the street — it's cheaper! Low rating also due to cashier with a bad attitude. No thanks!

  2. Things here aren't terrible, but that's probably the most positive thing I can say.

The sandwich makers seemed annoyed at us.  There was one other group sitting and eating in the place, so they weren't busy at all.  But, they just kind of grunted and pointed.  I understand if there's a language barrier, but body language also conveys how little you care to engage in human interaction.

The coffee was alright – basic and not that exciting.  I had a sandwich that seemed like it was a weird pile of random ingredients.  I enjoyed it, but the way it was made was haphazard and not at all balanced.  Like, if someone is making me a sandwich, I want them to do a better job than just slopping little bits of each ingredient into the bread.

All in all, between the gruff nature and unremarkable food, I don't recommend this place.  But, if you are in the area and need something, you won't go hungry.  Like I said, nothing is terrible, just unpleasant.

  3. Decent food, decent coffees, decent salads.  Pretty much a decent place, but definitely nothing exciting.

2-stars isn't to say its not a fine place to have lunch, its just that there are plenty of other places to check out.

By the way, I warmly refer to this place as "Bread and Ompany", as the "C" in "company" on the hanging sign outside has been missing for the 5+ years I've been walking by the place.

  4. Still new to Manhattan and looking to find the right morning coffee place — the first couple of times I came in here they had run out of this n that..

I just finally tried a chocolate croissant and caffe mocha – the latter was actually quite decent!

  5. I came here cause it was the closest place that served hot breakfast and I was about to die if I didn't eat. I got the spinach omelette (which has tomatoes & mushroom). It was probably one of the worst omelettes I've ever had…luckily back in the office we had Tabasco sauce which I drowned it in.

  6. Your standard Bread & Company, just like the one on 42nd/Madison. Pretty much just a cleaner deli place mainly for fast breakfast and lunch. I have been to both places as I work in midtown area.

As one of my co-workers used to say, "constantly over charging, poor service, I'd never go there".

Their workers at the salad bar not only speak poor english, but also give shetty attitude, "WHAT ELSE? NEXT!" are what I'd always hear….and also "WE DON'T HAVE THIS TODAY, WE DON'T HAVE THAT TODAY"….then freaking get rid them on your menu if customers are asking for it regularly for god sake…

I was in need for a quick bite and came in for a make-your-own-salad….no turkey….no beef….glad they still had chicken….
