Pret A Manger

“Also, their almond croissants are an absolute indulgence – definitely give it a try!”

“It takes me back to when I went to London after university and always went to Pret because it was great and cheap (in London standards).”

“When I stopped in this evening the young woman behind the counter was particularly friendly and hospitable, she is a true asset to the establishment and deserves special recognition!”

  1. Plenty of Prets in Financial District/Downtown. You can never go wrong with their croissants and/or coffee. This particular Pret met my expectations for a Pret; clean, fast, fresh. I spent 15 minutes perched on the window-side stool, enjoying my coffee while people-watching amidst the morning rush. No complaints with this Pret from me.

  2. Wow. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of this chain. We were late for an event and needed a bite and were prepared for the usual indifferent sandwich and yucky soup. At least at this particular location, they manage the lunch time rush. The hot entrees are not the usual warmed over yuck but quite tasty. We liked the BBQ pork wrap and the Italian wedding soup.

A good choice if ur in Lower manhatten and need something quick.

  3. I deducted one point because they didn't give me the usual Pret pretzel bread along with my lentil soup (which is always a highlight).  Instead they gave me a stale roll out of a box.

I got one of their premade wraps (something with falafel) and then the lentil soup.  The falafel wrap was awesome – it didn't taste oily at all and it was really well-flavored.

Their seating area is limited out front, but there are quite a few spaces in the back.  Will definitely be back in the future – breakfast/lunch for under $10 :).

  4. All I know is Pret A Manger is kinda pricey for their sandwiches, soups and salads. I've had their sandwiches before and I was not very happy with the price. BUT……someone at work brought me a cookie at this Pret A Manger. Wowee, it was a pretty yummy cookie. Daggonit, now that I know their cookies are delicious…looks like I am going to visit more often.

  5. I work in the area and found myself roaming around looking for lunch one day and found myself in the Pret location.

It was a late lunch for me, around 2pm.  Usually at this time of the day, most lunch spots are a bit of a mess and have often run out of certain things.  Not so here.  The shelves were fully stocked and the space was pretty clean as well.  I grabbed a roast beef sandwich and was able to find an open seat and enjoy my lunch.  This spot has now been added to my lunch time rotation.

  6. I stopped in for some soup in the evening and was happy that they had two vegan options: miso and vegetable. Neither sounded particularly exciting but I was starving and in the mood for soup. I went with the vegetable soup and was very disappointed with what I got. Don't get me wrong, the soup was hot and was full of vegetables, but the vegetables appeared to be of the frozen bag of mixed vegetable variety, overcooked and lacking flavor. And they have the nerve to charge $4 for a small cup of that? It was boring, tasteless, and not at all filling. I'd be willing to try another soup here but I would ask for a sample before buying a cup.

  7. Bright (a little too bright, in fact), but comfortable and lots of seating. Friendly staff and of course great food. Bathroom could have been cleaner, so a star off for that.  There's also some fun art work around the place based on food, like a laurel wreath made out of cilantro.

  8. Good Service. Clean atmosphere. Fresh food. I stopped in for a yogurt with fresh fruit and a cup of coffee. Both were excellent.
