  1. I Enjoy Hale & Hearty for a quick and healthy lunch in Midtown. They offer a variety of soup, sandwich, and salad options, so one would be hard-pressed to find something they don't like! I try to get something different each time, but I am partial to trying the seasonal soups and the Turkey and Avocado with Pesto Sandwich. I always do the soup and half sandwich combo though, which is a great deal in my opinion.

Prices are actually cheap for a typical NY lunch and the staff is great. They move the lines along quickly and efficiently, but they are also very friendly. I often feel man-handled by other assembly-line style lunch places, but Hale and Hearty always provides service with a smile.

I will definitely continue to come in here!

  2. The soups here can be dynamite, but the chicken chili I had today was off. Not to mention you're paying out the wazoo for a measly cup of soup and a half a sandwich if you do the combo (almost $12.00). Too many other lunch places around here that offer more reasonable deals to come back here again.

  3. This is a great place to go to if you just want to refuel real quick and continue on  with your day.  I appreciate that you can sample their soups before  committing to one. They offer a wide assortment of vegetarian options. Would definitely stop in to any of their locations for a quick meal.

  4. Where do i even start? From the soups, to the salads to the wraps. My god. Okay first off- this is hands down my favorite and BEST soup & sandwich place ever. I am a huge fan of soup, all kinds. It can be 90 degrees outside and i can still eat soup. Their soups are so rich in flavor and so filling!!!! Their wraps/sandwiches are delicious too as well as salads. So many different soups to choose from as well. If you are ever around Columbus circle/west side, stop here. You will NOT regret it.

  5. I love Hale and Hearty's stuff, but the service was pretty bad.  I went there for the first time and was kind of confused as to where the line started.  I got an attitude from the girl working behind the counter when she saw I looked confused and she yelled at me to come down to the end.  I ordered a salad and it was good.  The restaurant was empty and seemed clean.  I sat down and was able to relax.  Immediately after the employee who was rude to me went on her break and was leaning over the counter, ordering food, and talking about some inappropriate weekend activities with another employee.  When the employee was preparing her salad, they asked if she wanted a certain topping and the other employee responded with "oh no, I'd never eat that".  It didn't make me feel too good about the quality of the food.  I didn't have a bad experience though, so I didn't use it to base my entire review off of.  I'm not so sure I'd go back though.  The service was terrible.

  6. Yum. I can't wait to go back to this place as a little lunch treat.

First of all, I went around 12 and it wasn't packed – I didn't have to wait on line at all. I even told the guy behind the counter I had never been here before and he was very friendly. So was the woman behind the soup section!

I ordered the mozz, arugula, avocado and lemon aioli half sandwich and the crab bisque (medium size). Both were amazing. The soup was so good I wound up scorching my tongue form trying to eat it when it was still too hot. Ahh…oh well. It was amazing.

My total came to around $11.50 – a little price for soup and half of a sandwich, but both were good. I will be back, but because of the price, it'll be more of a "treat" type lunch.

  7. I was in the area and I was in the mood for something healthy and soup sounded like a good idea. This location is a bit small but they have everything you need so don't let that fool you.
I was undecided on which soup I wanted but the lady behind the counter was nice enough to let me try a couple, I went with the chicken vegetable since I'm tying to eat healthy 🙁
Then I went to the end and got a chopped salad which was very good and fresh.
I love that they have free lemon water on the counter.

  8. I have braved snow, sleet, and rain to trek three blocks up to this H&H. On colder days the line can be long, but the staff keeps it moving (as long as you aren't asking for samples of every single soup……..you know who you are!) On a normally busy day at peak lunch time, I'm in and out quickly.

My go-to order is the 1/2 sandwich soup combo– 9 times out of 10 I get half of the balsamic chicken with avocado sandwich and the creamy tomato soup with chicken and orzo. That soup is the best–it's the reason why I walk three blocks in the snow, sleet, and rain. The menu also lists what is dairy-free and vegan, so everyone can get something they enjoy. I've always found the staff to be polite, and they even give me an extra Bean Card when I forget mine at my desk. Thanks for keeping me full, Hale & Hearty!
