Not a complete disappointment and definitely a very good cup of coffee. Bagel itself was ok – I most definitely have had better….there's really not even much to say about it; it was better than a store bought bagel, how about that!
Our choice for today was the health kick bagel – plain bagel, scooped out, with low fat cream cheese, lox, cucumbers, and red onion (sans tomatoes). All were pretty fresh, lox was on a saltier side, which became more pronounced once it had some time to sit.
Overall, not bad – good to know the option is there though if a better one was closer, I wouldn't want to return.
Whenever I can actually find parking in the area for a substantial amount of time after my B&N run, or my mani/ pedi time I love to pop in here.
I usually get 1 of 2 things:
1) Make your own salad…you can't mess that up!
or
2) Breaded chicken, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, mayo, & ketchup in a whole wheat wrap..YUM! I can only eat half and save the rest for dinner or lunch the next day.
They also take cards which my other spot doesn't do…so that's this places leg up!
A lot of bad reviews here and thankfully I have no complaints. Second time coming and it just gets better. The service was on point and they are very helpful, quick and efficient.
They got my favorite bagel so I ordered an everything pumpernickel. I love pumpernickel bagels. They're hard to find and not always good but here they are the bomb.
I got the bagel with Vege cream cheese and they lay it on thick. The bagel and cream cheese taste amazing. I could not eat it all at once so I had to save the rest for lunch lol. It cost 3.90 so it's cost efficient too!
Overall it's exactly what I want when I visit a bagel shop. So many options of food and fresh variety bagels and cream cheese. Plus coffee is legit too. I will come back again.
I prefer the location across from Methodist after my last encounter here. I work close to this location and have been coming here for years but after last week I will no longer give them my business. The place overall needs an upgrade recently it's been looking run down. That's the first complaint. My second is that the workers are extremely unprofessional, and the men last time made me feel so uncomfortable. One of them was looking at me in a very inappropriate way that another customer actually said something to him. It was blatant and obvious and made me feel dirty. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Not to mention I picked a donut up and it was stale and hard. I didn't even want to go back to complain.
Whilst in my pursuit for a good Brooklyn Bagel, I stopped by at this location of La Bagel Delight. So, super small ordering space, but there is sitting area inside and outside; the set up of the place is like a deli; no frills!
I got the summer delight (2 egg whites, honey turkey, low fat cheese) on a garlic bagel with chive spread. I also got the freshly squeezed orange. The total came to about $13 (w/ tax); I think this is a bit more expensive but the orange juice was really good — refreshing, natural, perfectly sweet — and the bagel egg-sandwich was very good and kept me full for most of the day! The bagel was very soft and did not have a weird aftertaste, the crust was on the softer side but I liked that! It definitely tasted fresh.
The employee who took my order was fast and friendly (not too friendly, this is a no frills place).
Overall, good place, good food and large portions! I would not make the trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn just for this but if I was in the area, I would stop by.
This place used to be great – and then they fired everyone who made it run like a well oiled machine. In the past 4 months I've had the staff be extremely rude in the restaurant. This place has gone completely downhill in the last 6 months.
There are better bagels, sandwiches and really all kinds of deli stuff around. Bagel World at Union & 7th, Brownstone Bagel at Union & 4th, the OTHER La Bagel Delight (owned and run separately) on 7th & 7th, Brewshot at 1st & 5th.
Don't bother giving this place your money – they don't deserve it.
This place was ok, certainly not something I would ever rush out to again with all the great bagels spots around. We were driving by and hungry and decided to grab a bagel and egg sandwich. They weren't huge and a little pricey for what you get. Plus the bagel itself was dry, not fluffy and big, and was overlooked.
I probably wouldn't go back but know people seem to like their other dishes like the lox platter.
I've been going to la bagel since I was a kid, I remember when they had a location on fifth avenue & Eighth street, I really wish they still had that location; would save me a walk to seventh avenue. I remember going to la bagel every morning before going to High School across the street, I would always order a plain bagel, cream cheese on both sides with a little jelly, the year was 1992, still to this day I still order the same!
Even though they have move a block over, the guys who were taking my order back then are still taking it now. It's crazy how they have seen me grow up to be a woman, even crazier that they always remember me. I always get a sense of comfort coming here, the bagels have always tasted the same, and they have the best cream cheese. I love there coffee also, and I'm very picky with good coffee!
I've been to other bagel places in the neighborhood, only because I'm too lazy to walk up to seventh, and none compare.
This is a place that I wish last forever, yes it's noisy, yes you have to yell your order, and yes it's always crowded, so for those who complain about it….WELCOME TO BROOKLYN!
