  1. Holy Schnitzel! Now I must admit, I never had a schnitzel until the day I met Mordi. Mordi's food truck has been around for two years and offers both lunch and dinner services. What's a schnitzel you ask? Well, it's a lightly fried thin piece of chicken or eggplant.

Each piece is freshly made as you place your order. There are different options you can choose for your schnitzel. You can have a sandwich or platter. There are also the options between the Americano, Mediterranean, and the Italiano. I usually order the Mediterranean combo to get the hummus taste and both eggplant and chicken.

The size of this sandwich is NO JOKE. It is big and so filling. I usually share it because its just a big amount. Totally worth the money and you cant find schnitzel just anywhere in Jersey City.

They also offer salads and falafel and you can order online for pick along with deliveries as well!

  2. Definitely one of the best food trucks to grace the streets of Downtown Jersey City, Mordi's keeps it (relatively) simple with a menu of savoury, crispy-fried schnitzel.

Choose your schnitzel (eggplant, chicken, or both for an extra $3) and your style (sandwiches with cheese, veggies, and sauces or a platter with your choice of condiments, with or without fries). So far, I've only done their platters with eggplant. You get a generous helping of thick fried eggplant slices, 2 condiments (the thick and tangy hummus and bracing parsley tahini sauce are recommended). Good size for a lunch; put down an extra $2 for a pile of fries and call it dinner.

The schnitzel and fries are crisp and tasty, but can lean on the greasy side.

  3. I've been coming to this truck for lunch and sometimes dinner for a couple years now. It's one of the most consistently tasty food trucks in the area, and with the growing competition that's saying something.

I almost always get chicken schnitzel in the Americano style, and it's so good I don't know if I'd be able to bring myself to try other varieties. It's a large sandwich, so don't let the prices scare you, and it's definitely filling. All ingredients are great quality – the bread down to the toppings, and the schnitzel is always cooked perfectly. Always a solid option in the ever-growing Jersey City food scene.

  4. The guys at this truck are so friendly. I felt bad for ordering right when they were closing up but they were so sweet about it. I've only had their schnitzel platter (4 big pieces of schnitzel, side salad, fries, and two condiments for $10) but it was very good and filling. I saved half for lunch the next day. Crispy fried, but light, chicken and a tangy side salad. Fries were also good. Not greasy or heavy at all. The condiments were good as well, I had the hummus and pesto aioli which was my favorite. I'd buy a jar of their pesto aioli if I could. It was great with the fries.

Last time I came, they parked on the far corner of the Grove Street PATH station. It's convenient for bus and train commuters and the food comes out pretty quick. Definitely try this place if you want something inexpensive and yummy.

  5. Schnitzel… not a word I use often, let alone eat, but I branched out this weekend because my friend and I were trying different food trucks and this was by far, hands down, my favorite truck.

My girlfriend and I split the Chicken Schnitzel Platter, which came with 4 peices of chicken, fries, and two sacues (the best part). We chose the pesto aioli, and garlic lemon aioli. It was a great lunch and I am so glad I branched out and tried. Peer pressure at its best.

  6. This is THE BOMB. I wish there was a more reliable way to know when I could have schnitzel sandwiches in my life, but but when the opportunity arises, I always get the chicken or eggplant and am always incredibly pleased.

  7. Mordi's is a JC staple. Luckily, they're pretty good at bringing the truck all over town, so it's not uncommon to find them at one of JC's many summer markets, or parked around downtown or exchange place.

Chicken schnitzel is simple and classic, yet the way it's prepared from place to place can really make a world's difference. It's all about finding the perfect thin and crispy cutlet that's coated in a flavorful blend of seasoning and spices. At Mordi's, they do it right every time. Their schnitzel is perfectly seasoned and flavorful and is fried to a perfect golden brown.

They've got tons of various sandwich and topping options, and I'm partial to the Italiano which has mozzarella cheese, roasted red peppers and pesto. The schnitzel is so flavorful and the dipping sauces are so tasty that a sandwich with toppings isn't even necessary. On my last visit, I ordered the chicken standalone with a side of lemon garlic aioli and that was all I needed. The order came with several large pieces of chicken, and for only 8 dollars it is enough to feed two people.

Besides chicken, they've also got some veg options such as eggplant, falafel and Israeli salad. I haven't tried the falafel yet but definitely want to on my next visit. If you haven't tried Mordi's then make sure to add it to your bucket list. There's really no better place for schnitzel.
