“If you're in Livingston and you have to choose between Nana's and Eppes Essen, let me make the choice for you: NANA'S!”

“The potato knishes were great on their own, but amazing when dipped in the house made ranch dressing, suggested by Mark.”

  1. Jewish meets Italian

Its a perfect blend of 2 cultures, just like a pizza bagel.

    Here are the highlights:

    1.  Service – We sat down and the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful.

    2.  Tuna – The tuna is delicious!  I saw some complaints on here about the sweetness, yes it is a little sweet.  They offered us a taste first so how could you go wrong?  I could not get enough of it though.

    3.  Decor – Its warm and inviting, makes you feel like a little local cafe.

    4.  Portions – OK so the prices are a little higher than your corner deli, but you cannot compare for the quality and portions.  Everything we ate was incredibly fresh and made with top-quality ingredients.  We had so much food, we ate lunch the next day.

This place is about as good as it comes for a neighborhood deli cafe.

  2. Apparently a neighborhood favorite.  Nice patio with umbrellas outside so great to go on a nice day.  Otherwise, they do have table service inside.

We asked for a menu so they knew we were first timers, offered us a taste of their famous tuna and glad we tried.  All the other reviews are on point, the best tuna sandwich I've had.  It's on the sweeter side.

We got a side of sweet potato fries, all good, cut like steak fries so crunchy and didn't feel greasy.

We got the house salad – aside from the deviled egg it was an average salad but good with the sandwich.

They are busy but we still feel welcomed, unlike some of the other delis in Millburn for example – i think Nana gave my husband a taste of theit chicken salad while he was waiting.  Definitely coming back especially when it's a patio kind of weather.

  3. Good Stuff!

    Best chicken salad!  Hands down!

  4. Nana's is a fabulous lunch spot in Livingston.  Very cute ambience in the dining area.  The service is also spot on and friendly.  I went there today for lunch with my colleague and had a truly great experience.

We were immediately seated and then warmly welcomed by a gentlemen who gave us a sample of the split pea soup and gazpacho to try.  (Both very tasty and clearly fresh).  Our server came over and gave us a few minutes to order after delivering our water with lemon.   I will say that the water had some kind of odd taste to it that was rather off putting, but it wasn't the end of the world.

The owner then came over to say hello and brought a sample of the freshly made kale salad.  Again, tasty and very fresh.  The fact that he cares enough to do that personally for each of his guests really says something.

My colleague had the bok choy salad with salmon ontop.  I had Nana's famous tuna on thin rye with lettuce and tomato.  Let me just say that Nana's has some of the best tuna I've ever had.  My meal also came with a pickle and coleslaw.  The fact that you are charged extra for a few slices of tomato kind of irritated me, but for a whole 50 cents it wasn't that big of a deal.  Just worth mentioning. My lunch was more than satisfying and our server checked up on us appropriately.

If you're in the mood for a good sandwich in Livingston, stop by.

  5. This as become one of my favorite lunch spots in Livingston! The atmosphere is so cute and quaint – a deli on one side, a full dining area on the other with mixed matched chairs and boards of quotes hanging on the walls.

Nana's has the best comfort food including salads, soups, sandwiches and more! The food is so good – from their turkey chili daily special to my all-time favorite, the grilled turkey sandwich, everything is always fresh, made-to-order and served with a smile. I love taking friends and family here for a bite – there is something for everyone!

If you don't order their world-famous tuna, ask for a sample. They'll gladly serve you a hearty taste!

  6. Ordered a sandwich. Guy must have asked me 6 times what I wanted to make sure he got it right. Messed it up anyway.

Decent enough ingredients. Pretty good bread.
Next time give me the sandwich I ordered. Can't be that difficult.
