This place is very laid back and chill perfect for any time of the day. It absolutely perfect for hanging out with friends because it's pretty big. If it was in the city, it would be packed but I think the location is perfect. The vibe is very hipsterish with string lights, bookshelves, an old piano in the back. I see people of all walks of life, old or young, hipster or not, come in here and seem to have a good time. They also serve alcohol so its perfect if you want to have a beer and chill with friends although the Bloody Mary looks killer.
I have had ice cream and a tea smoothie called a Teazing here. Ice cream is pretty cheap, i think it was $1 per scoop for standard ice cream. The Teazing, which comes in 4 different fruity flavors. I decided to get my antioxidant intake and get the blueberry/ pomergrante teazing. The flavor was good but it was too sweet for me and tasted nothing like tea. The ice they crush up in it, is one of those addicting ices where you get addicted to crunching it every 2 seconds. Overall, not bad teazing. 1 short teazing is $4 which is a nice portion.
Our barista was extremely nice and answered any questions for us.
Prices are very fair. Open late, till 2AM which is nice.
Until next time Cool Beans 🙂
While my rating stays the same, I just wanted to update that I just recently found out that Cool Beans the coffee/tea shop/cafe has now become a full fledged merchant of alcohol!
I went in to get a caffeine pick-me-up after I had nearly ate myself into a food coma at Kimchi Smoke in Bergenfield and was shocked to see beer bottles and wine bottles on display on shelves. Hmm… these weren't here before… Was the decor new? It wasn't just for decor, Cool Beans was displaying all their alcoholic offerings! Not only do they serve beer and wine but they have other drinks available too. There was a menu on the wall that had drinks specials made with vodka and tequila.
*sniff* My high school hangout is all grown up now.
I didn't try any of their drink specials but today is Cinco de Mayo and I Mayo be getting drunk at Cool Beans later today. Mayo-be. Oy, I'm corny.
Ive come here since highschool, and this little cafe is always a nice time. Its relaxing and chill, and oh wait they even have a full bar now! Cool beans has changed my friends, Coffees are strong, i recently had the Breakfast with Elvis (Banana and peanut butter coffee), this smelled amazing and was strong! The sandwhiches and breakfast meals are always great to choose from. Not to mention the sandwhiches come with a side of salad or chips to choose from! Parking is the only downfall of this place, its always difficult to get a spot.
The prices have gone up since I came here as a teen but so has the price of almost everything. This where I fell in love with vanilla chai, and I felt oh so cool drinking it here. Cool beans was hipster before being hipster was trendy. It's still got that one-of-a-kind feel you can't find at Starbucks. The decor is quirky and bohemian, not at all contrived or uniform. I got my usual skim vanilla chai and it was just as good as I remember. Silly smooth vanilla that is sweet but not too sweet. I already ate so can't judge the food. Service is speedy and friendly. Parking can be a pain but on a weeknight finding a spot isn't bad. Chai me please!
One of the best Chai's I have ever had. My friend got the Banana and Peanut Butter coffee which tasted pretty good as well. I like the selection of Tea's and also got the Raspberry pie which I couldn't tell if they made or got shipped in. Whatever it was, it was great! I really like the atmosphere there.
This is a really unique coffeehouse for this area! The only thing I wish, is that there was more parking. from what I can see, it's only on street parking which is not plentiful. i've had the egg sandwich year which is very big and delicious. I've also had a few different pastries here, also good, but they could use some more gluten-free selections. seating is not plentiful, but they do have as many tables in there as they can comfortably fit, it's not a huge place. All in all, I really like this place and would recommend it. Many different drinks to choose from. I believe they also still run an open mic night every other Sunday.
The tea is excellent. Huge selection and can be ordered hot or iced. I've tried several of their teas iced, all unsweetened, and found them to be really great. If you want to add milk to your tea, they have soy milk and regular milk. I've done that to make a nice tea latte at times also. From what I remember the coffee is also quite good, better than I expected it to be. I don't drink much coffee any more but I did like whatever I got here.
I only tried the food here once and it was a pretty terrible experience. I ordered a breakfast wrap with bacon and cheese. It took 25 minutes to come out. When it finally did come out, the tortilla was cold, the cheese wasn't even melted (also cold), and the bacon was ridiculously greasy. This was a one star experience on multiple levels and it made me very reluctant to order their food in the future.
However aside from that one time, I've had great service and left happy the other times I came here. It's pretty close to my office and it's a nice place to come for a quick cup of tea. I've also had the soup and it was pretty good. The baked goods tempt me every time; the cakes and pies and things look absolutely amazing.
Update: I tried the cherry pie and it was horrible. Not only was it cold but it tasted like it had freezer burn and did not smell or taste fresh at all. They previously told me that they don't bake the stuff there themselves which is fine but at least they store them properly and make sure things are fresh. Drinks are consistently pretty good but they need to reevaluate their food and desserts- or maybe get rid of them and just focus on the drinks n
It's always great to come here and hang out. They have quite a selection of teas and cofee as well as other beverages. Desserts are tasty, never had the food food.
Although they do not really advertise it, you can purchase loose coffee beans ground or whole. The prices aren't too bad, but there really isn't' a list, just ask your friendly barista for a recommendation.
The ambiance is cool, there is always a seat or two available on weekdays, weekends are probably a different story. It's great during the warm months, they have a patio where you could hang around. Great coffee shop in a great location
