I heard about Cypress from a friend and since I was kind of in the area I decided to check it out. The Cypress tasting room looks like a strip mall store front in a warehouse. However, once inside it was cozy and welcoming. I was excited to see their selection of beers- especially the "naughty" and "nice" beers. It was $6 for a flight of 4 tasting glasses and we were off. These were really good beers, and each had a significant difference in taste and flavor. I mention that because some breweries' beer, although different in style, seem to carry certain traits across the tap line. Not here. The "Nice" brew for example was made with ginger candy made by the brewery. The "Naughty" beer was brewed with hot peppers and another one was made with sweet potato. That attention to the ingredients was well noticed throughout our tasting and why we bought a growler of the "Nice." We never felt rushed or pressure to hurry. We just sat there enjoying our beer and the bowl of pretzels. This was a solid recommendation and find and hope to visit again for another tasting and growler fill up.
So glad my girlfriend and I heard about this place! It might not be in the best location for someone to stumble upon, but it should definitely be on everyone's list.
The tasting room/bar is pretty small. Only about 3 tables with a few stools around the wall and at the bar, but who really needs room anyway. The man behind the bar, who I assume to be one of the owners was incredibly friendly and took all the newcomers on a tour of their facility and explained the history behind the name and beer making.
If you're in the area and want great beer at good prices and free pretzels, then Cypress is the place to go!
Tired of drinking the same old watered down beer that your daddy and grandaddy have been drinking since the beginning of time? Try some craft brewed beer and while you're at it, pay a visit to Cypress Brewing Company, who happens to be in the Class of 2015 of new breweries to open its doors in the garden state.
My buddies and I only work about 10 mins from here and decided to pay them a visit one day after work. They are located a bit off the beaten path but not too far from Route 1 and Middlesex County College. The tasting room has a few tables as well as a bar and a small TV. We sampled some beers and were then given a tour of the brewhouse. The owners/brewers are really cool guys. In fact, I was even told that I could come brew with them anytime that I wanted.
After the tour, we sampled a few more beers. I especially enjoyed the Double Chocolate Imperial Oatmeal Stout and English Nut Brown Ale. They also had an IPA, West Coast IPA, Irish Red, Amber and Hefeweizen.
These guys are still relatively small but it seems like they have a lot of room to grow especially in Middlesex county. Cheers to craft beer.
I've found that some of my favorite breweries are located in industrial parks, and that is NOT something that should scare you. They have nice big roads that make it easy to get to (since there are a lot of trucks coming and going during the week), plenty of parking so you don't have to worry about finding a spot, and perhaps most importantly plenty of space for the brewers to do their thing. Cypress is what you might call a nano brewery as their setup is quite small scale, however that definitely affords the ability to experiment and try new things that larger breweries might not be able to do. All of the beers that I've had from this place have been top notch, but their 17 mile IPA has to be my favorite with a HUGE hop kick. Love the fact that one of the owners is usually tending the bar and giving tours, you can get such a better appreciation for the process they go through when they can speak from experience. Definitely bring a growler to take some home with you and don't be afraid to try a few new brews if you're not quite sure what to get.

If you're interested in checking out a small, Jersey local brewing company, Cypress Brewing is a very awesome place within Central Jersey. Offering up the availability to come in and fill up a growler or two, or just simply sit with a few friends at a small bar and get to know new friends, Cypress offers a small getaway from the work week.
The beer selection is great with various styles to choose from. If you are indecisive, then get a cheap flight of four beers racked and ready to roll for you. Also, the pints are cheap here and range from $5-$8 bucks, plus they have the growlers that you can pick up their or bring your own which is great for the craft beer lover that can't always make it out to the bar for the evening. For me, I enjoy their IPA selections, with Insane in the Grain as one of my personal favorites, but I also enjoy their West Coast and Black IPA's as well.
The staff is very friendly and small; when I was there, it was the bartender, Danielle, and one of the brewers' mothers, running the entire operation out of a small warehouse with a few stills and walk in fridge smaller than some bedrooms I've lived in. The awesome thing with Cypress is they're always messing around and trying new things so when you go into the bar area, there may be a few beers that you're simply not going to get anywhere else.
