  1. B-grade coffee shop in the West Village. I came here on a Monday morning to get some work done while visiting New York. The shop itself was very quiet on a Monday morning, just a few people sitting at the bar doing work.

Atmosphere here isn't much to speak of. Shop itself is a bit dark and dingy with a run down entryway. The barista behind the counter was very friendly though and made me a skim latte straight away. I took a table by the outlets along the wall and set up shop. Their wifi is super fast.

The latte and wifi were great. The atmosphere left a bit to be desired for me.

  2. This place is very unassuming on the outside. In fact, I missed it twice coming up and down the street. If it helps, it's adjacent and to the left of a hipster record store!

Anyways, this place is a great choice if you want to enjoy a quality latte and grab a seat with a friend (or perhaps get some work done on your laptop). The only drag is the hours. I like it when my coffee shops stay open until at least 10PM. It's NYC for crying out loud!

Fun Fact: This place doubles as a Karoake Bar. Very strange… but shoulder shrug and move along! Or sing along?

  3. It's so hard to find coffee shops in NYC that are actually trying to be study/work spaces but the Coffee Foundry is secure in it's identity, and provides the sort of cold caffeinated space where I'm at my most productive.

Looks like it's a karaoke bar at night too? Dope.

  4. Stopped by here after work and it felt very much like a bar, but with coffee. The vibe at 4:30 on a Tuesday was definitely people plugged in, working solo on their laptops. Interesting how the barista called out 'last call'. Liked the feel. Great place to go solo. I felt a little weird being there with my boyfriend- we were almost the only ones talking in the place! Definitely a great place to camp out with your laptop, and the cappuccino was stellar! I'll have to check this unique place out in another light when it's more 'bar' than 'café'. Also, there's no sign that I could see so the address is really all you need. 🙂

  5. Wow. Favorite cafe in New York. I've been looking for a cafe where I can do work, but cafes in New York tend to be 1. Super cramped or 2. Super loud or 3. No wifi or 4. A combination of the three.

Somehow Coffee Foundry avoids all of this. Since most people seem to come to do work, the space is relatively quiet! The wifi is reliable, and the walls have a ton of outlets for you to charge your laptop, so the space is incredibly practical.

And the drinks? Delicious! I love the mango green tea and matcha green tea latte with almond milk.

Also, the place turns from cafe into karaoke bar at night!

  6. Yes. I don't know if there's anything else to say. This place is incredible! Good coffee, friendly "bar"Istas and outlets and wifi and food oh my! I LOVE THIS PLACE. I can't believe I've never been there before!

Also did't feel pressured to keep purchasing things. I do wish it was a bit more "Burp Castle" like, where people were encouraged to be quieter for the workers, bu, eh, can't have everything!

  7. Nice cafe in the West Village which is good for working. Great espresso drinks with soy/almond milk options. One size option only- the almond latte I had was huge! Delicious cuppa! Nice and creamy. Almond lattes are hit or miss and this was a hit!!

It is really dark in here so depends if you like that kind of vibe/ambience.

Overall a good place if you need to sit down and work for a little. It is quiet and most people seem to be there to work. Not much chatting/ socializers. Great coffee which is most important!!

  8. I was in the West Village and to be quite honest was desperately seeking a bathroom.  The Starbucks line was ridiculous so I kept walking and I happened upon the coffee foundry which prominently features a customers only bathroom sign.  I ordered a coffee and headed in to an exceptionally clean bathroom.  Came back to the bar to enjoy my Toby's Estate coffee.  The place has a very chill vibe.  You don't feel like your in a coffee place it's more bar.  Very dark but friendly.  The barristers were super nice and left me alone.  I overheard them say that they have poke for lunch which I missed out on but perhaps another time.  They do a brisk take out business there.  I liked it so much I went back the next time I was in the area.  If you are looking for a quality coffee experience then I recommend it without reservation.
