  1. The Blue Velvet cupcake was very delicious. It was moist and the icing was creamy and not too sweet. I also got the Lucky Charms Rice Krispies Treat, which was super dry and hard as a brick. I took one bite and had to throw it away. I asked if the Rice Krispies Treats were moist before placing my order. I was told the Lucky Charm was moist. So I can't imagine what the others were like.

The inside is cute. They have a lot of desserts to choose from. I'm not sure how good they are since my experience was mixed.

  2. I have never had a better Strawberry Shortcake in my life. It's so moist and delicious. The whipped cream icing is the perfect amount of sweetness mixed with fresh pieces of strawberries. I can't wait to go back and have it again.

My brother has the famous Blackout Cake and really enjoyed it but said it is not the best in the world as advertised!

There are 2 reasons I knocked it down a star. The first is the price. The slices of cake are very expensive for just a slice of cake. I think it was 6 or 7 dollars for a slice. Granted it's New York and worth every penny but still.

The other reason is that my cake fell apart when the server went to cut it, the whole bottom layer came apart and crumbled (a testament to how soft and moist the cake is). But, I lost some pieces of cake and strawberry in the transfer which sucked. And a slice of cake missing the bottom layer is not as pretty for Instagram!

Seriously one of the best strawberry shortcakes in my life and I have been dreaming about it ever since.

  3. This review may be biased because if you have gluten free cupcakes on your menu, I will automatically love you. On a humid Saturday, I got the gfree peanut butter banana, chocolate, and coffee flavors- the cake was soft and buttery and the frosting was heaven! They have a glass case filled with similar items to prevent cross-contamination so you don't need to worry about that. Good place to get coffee and dessert at a convenient location.

  4. Normally when I come into cupcake shops, I'm highly disappointed.  They're normally dry, the icing is disgusting and just expensive for no reason.  I was given two cupcakes and a cookie by a friend from this place.  He had bought it the day before, then I let it sit in my kitchen overnight until the following night is when I ate the cupcakes.  They were delicious, even after being almost 3 days old.  I loved how moist the cupcakes were, and the icing was incredible.  I had the red velvet cupcake also a cupcake very similar to the popular rainbow cake here, even with the jelly inside – it was sooo good!  Finally finding a cupcake place that I'm not disappointed in.  I thought their packaging was really cute as well!  I don't know how expensive they were though, I can't really say since I didn't buy it.  And their cookie I had on day 4 – still soft as ever.  I would totally come here again.  Best I've come across!

  5. 3.5

Blue velvet was moist and not overly sweet. The blueberries hidden inside the cake were a nice surprise. I liked the frosting too. It had a smooth, not sticky consistency, and was again not a toothache-inducing sweet.

While the cupcake was good, it was not worth the $4.50 price tag. If I'm ever back, I'll probably try the cakes

  6. Stopped by for coffee. Their iced coffee tastes and looks like water. Don't come here for coffee!

  7. Cute little store with a large selection of baked goods. They are VEGAN friendly and have at least 3-4 vegan items at any one time. They also carry gluten-free options! I've tried the vegan pistachio cheesecake once and it was phenomenal. Most of the time I go there are different selections which is great! Staff is always friendly.

They have a small coffee bar with lattes/espresso drinks and almond milk for non-dairy lovers. The iced latte I got was mediocre at best. Best to get good coffee from a store that specializes in that.

The store itself is a little dark. There are quite a few seats you can enjoy your treats/ coffee over, but I prefer to just take and go!

Overall a nice bakery that I will return to for vegan treats if I am in the area.

  8. If I liked Illy coffee more, I'm sure Little Cupcake Bakeshop would be a five star play for me. But until they adopt a bean that I can't find in Penn Station, a solid four seems about right.

From trying to procure their elusive blue velvet cupcake to lazy Sundays for almond croissants and Brooklyn blackouts, this is easily one of my favorite places to indulge my sweet tooth. Bonus points for being very close to my house, and for being the only place I want to be on a nice weekend morning in Nolita. Nothing beats grabbing a pastry from inside, nabbing a spot on one of their outside benches, and watching the world go by. For those who say it's impossible to relax in this city, I find this exercise to be just the thing to unwind and appreciate how great this place we call home is.
