  1. Took the chocolate cream pie and WOW it was amazing! Very soft, creamy chocolate on a buttery hard crust. The price though is a bit pricey for what it is but a nice treat nonetheless! Aside from other dessert baked goods, they have delicious coffee and ice cream I saw!

  2. I spotted Magnolia Bakery while passing Rockefeller Center and was thinking to get some more of that Banana Pudding and not even go the Grand Central sub basement catacombs to get to the Magnolia Bakery there.

So I'm taking a few photos for Yelp and stand in front of the display case and try to get the attention of the workers behind the them, but they are not paying me any mind.  I finally get a hold of one and ask for some Coconut Macaroons and these Jammie Thumbprint cookies that have a big dot of jam in the middle.

She puts them all in a bag, but I was going to ask for more stuff but the bag turn me off, everyone knows I love boxes and little shopping bags whenever I go to a bakery. So I cut it short and ask for a Banana Pudding cup and she directs me to the next counter to ask a different girl, so I do and tell her that the other worker sent me and she has my cookies so she give my Banana Pudding to her and she flings it into the bag and drop it on the counter.

I then ask her do I pay her or to I just walk to the cashiers at the other end of the store and pay them?

Nothing but silence and the workers are back to ignoring me. I take my bag go to pay at the cashier who looks into my bag to figure out what I got and I'm thinking this system really sucks.

I get to the PTBT and my bus and I want to take a nibble of my macaroons and cookies to see how they taste and when I look into my bag my cookies are all crumbs and my macaroons how are cookie macaroons.

When I got home I had to eat my cookies with a spoon and try and brush off the crumbs off my macaroons and end up scrapping off all the macaroons crust. ;-(

Sometime is wrong with the cookies recipe and the service at Magnolia Bakery.. Plus this is Rockefeller Center !!! people come from all over the world here is this how Magnolia Bakery represents itself , never again for me at this place.

  3. Magnolia was recommended to us by our Central Park Pedicab driver – something, something about landing a girlfriend with a cupcake and Sex in the City. Anywho, when we rode by there was a line wrapped around the building and when we return later for dessert there was still a line wrapped around the building. By the time it was our turn to order, they were out of pretty much everything. We had a choice between a few variations of chocolate cupcakes and vanilla. I picked a chocolate cupcake… I'm not even sure what variation it was because it was so hectic and they were pressuring me to order and I couldn't see the case and the line!!!! It's a frenzied place, be prepared.

I was certain the stress of ordering would all melt away with one bite of my cupcake. The cupcake. It was fine. It tasted like a mix of something you might make out of a box and a hostess cupcake minus the best part = the hardened layer of chocolate icing and the piping. If you're going to have dessert, you need to go big. This wasn't big. This wasn't knock my socks off. Maybe they have better flavors? Maybe they were having an off day? But in my search for the city's best dessert, this cupcake factory is not going to make the cut.

  4. I'm giving them the tops. Five stars for having all the flavors and cakes ready for purchase. This location is very busy. They get a lot of tourists. People leaving saying they'll come back later. Ha! By afternoon it is really crazy. I was helped promptly this am and found my spot at the counter. I inhaled the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake. It was sooooo good!
Here's the drill: One line is to order in front of the display case. After your order is ready you take it and step to the right side into another line. There you wait to be called to the check out. If you use a credit card it appears you're served faster. I use credit card now especially since there's no minimum purchase required.
I think PB and Jelly is tied with German Chocolate Cupcake for favorite. It was very good as usual. The price is comparable to other bakeries. Lots of jelly inside and the peanut butter tastes like actual peanut butter!!
I did see some of my other favorite Magnolia treats. I'll return soon for a slice of cake. I know how to ask for what I want now. They remember me and converse. It's fun to be welcomed. The best time to go is early am.
See you there! I'll be the one standing at the counter stuffing my face!

  5. On my way to the MOMA, I was like ohhh… maybe it's time for New York cheesecake, so lets make a stop!  Well, I ended up not getting a New York cheesecake, but instead settled for some delicious chocolate cheesecake instead. It would be great if there was some seating, but it's okay that I stood outside in 30 degree weather in early March and people watched.

So happy that I crossed Magnolia off my NYC bucket list. Wouldn't mind making a return visit soon.

  6. So good omg. The banana pudding, strange since I'm used to banana bread pudding but it's different. And not bad at all. A little sweet so don't eat that all in on sitting but so good. I'm still thinking about the rest of that pudding sitting in my fridge right now haha

Pistachio cheesecake, yes. If you have to get one get the pudding and if you can indulge on two get a cheesecake too.

Honestly I tried my friends key lime chees cake and that was bomb too.

Tl;dr I don't think you can go wrong. Unless you hate sweets. Or happiness kidding

  7. We bought the Banana Cream Pie, and I fell in love. I have yet to try their Banana Pudding, though. Although the staff was super nice and friendly, the line situation could have been dealt with a little better, but who cares, I got my Banana Cream Pie and that is all that matters.

  8. This place is wonderful.  I know Magnolia is famous for its cupcakes, but what I really like is its cake and cookies. The salted caramel chocolate chip cookie is to-die-for, and the German chocolate cake is just wonderful.
