Walgreens

“Times Square is a madhouse, but this is right off the train station and I would definitely come back again for more prints.”

“I love this company because they are cheaper then places like Duane Reade and CVS.”

“For tourists, head to the third floor for cheap souvenirs, or to pose in front of a green screen for a NYC photo keepsake.”

  1. This Walgreens is located on the pedestrian only section of Broadway in Times Square between 42nd and 43rd.  On the main floor by the entrance has a large cold food island right in the middle of the narrow store.  I was looking for a particular body lotion (Carmex) my friend had asked for and I figured Walgreens would have it.

I had to go up to the 2nd floor where my wife found it.  This store seems really tight in a sense that it doesn't feel like you have much room to move around.  The store itself seems rather narrow but considering where the store is located it's understandable that it's not going to necessarily be wide open spaces.

The lotion I bought here was 2 dollars more than the same thing I found on Long Island but it's not too surprising considering I was paying "tourist" pricing buying stuff in midtown Manhattan vs the burbs.

  2. I've stopped by here a few times on the way to work.

It's in the Times Square Building.  Because it is a small building, the store takes up 3 small floors.  Depending on what you want, you will probably have to go up and down the escalators searching for items.

The people who work there are friendly and helpful.  If I could, I'd add half a star.

  3. The escalator is single file and is broken, which is incredibly inconvenient. Otherwise, a standard Walgreen's by any and all measurements

  4. This is the mother of all Walgreens and it is located in Times Square New York. When traveling to New York, or staying in New York, it is inevitable that you will forget some sort of creature comfort, amenity, or sundry that you desperately need during your stay. Walgreens comes to the rescue.

This particular Walgreens is three stories high, and sells more than your average Walgreens, including souvenirs a decent selection of wine, snacks, and all sorts of random items which you may find useful.

If you are an impeccable planner and packer, and never forget anything, or don't run out of anything during your trip to New York, this Walgreens is probably someplace you would have no reason to visit. If you are like me, and want a snack that may not be on your hotel's menu, a beverage to bring back to your hotel room, or a pack of Advil or any other sundry, just know that Walgreens is there for you in a heart of Times Square.

Prices are reasonable, staff is decent, and the store is relatively clean and safe. I don't really look for much more when I go into a store like Walgreens.

  5. This is a 3 story walgreens packed with many things. Dont come here on a Sat night. Way crowded but at least the line moves fast.

  6. It's always super crowded because it's located right smack in the middle of Times Square. The prices here are pretty expensive compared to other Walgreens, but I suppose that's the tourist or NYC markup. However since it's in Times Square it's very convenient, so you'll gladly pay their prices while having to swim through a bunch of people both while getting your items and getting in line to pay for them. If you can, wait until you're outside of Manhattan to buy what you need.

  7. Three cheers to all the employees who were working the days leading up to New Year's Eve and the next couple of days.  The store is open 24 hours and entering had the patrons acting like the hunger games fighting over snacks and drinks.  The store is located under the ball.  I went twice while there 3 days and got in and out in a very hectic crowded store.  Great!

  8. I love Walgreens.  Clean, decent prices and friendly staff. I guess that in NYC, and specifically Times Square those qualities do not apply or matter.

Products are double those that I am used to. $11.99 for a two pack of toothbrushes. $8.49 for a toothpaste that I thought was price protected at $4.99. No here.

The staff was not interested in helping, the store was filthy and over crowded.

This is NYC and you shouldn't expect anything different.
