  1. "7-Eleven, there's always one around the corner"

That was the slogan I grew up with in Hong Kong where there was a 7-eleven literally on every corner, much the same way people in this country find Starbucks chains. Imagine my despair upon moving to Houston to find they were nonexistent. Thank god for New York City and all of its night-people that make establishments like this possible.

There is a undeniable sense of nostalgia every time I walk into one of these. And although I've long outgrown the post-exam celebratory slurpees of my youth, I still find plenty in these stores to satisfy my dietary needs at all hours of the night and day.

This particular one was perfectly situated for my 3AM coffee break when the Manhattan VA use to be open. It was like an inviting oasis bathed in the gentle moonlight. Nestled amidst the desolate dunes of the city, the tracks of bleary-eyed night-time travelers inevitably converge upon it like tributaries seeking out the Nile.

Then again, perhaps it's just a 24 hour convenience store. But sometimes things can seem like they're so much more when they're in the right place at the right time, you know?

The coffee was cheap and decent and you could add any number of flavoring agents to your drink to customize it to your liking. A little bit of whipped cream topping on your coffee can go a long way towards making those final hours of your night shift more bearable.

  2. I've been in better organized 7-Elevens. The entry is blocked almost immediately by an aisle, and the young man up front seems like he's in high school and was pretty quiet – he looked almost scared of some of the customers coming in. Cheap and plenty of regular 7-Eleven standard foodstuffs and snacks, drinks are cold in the back.

  3. $1 corn dog roller
    $1 maple pancake sausage roller
    $1 sausage biscuit
    $1 pizza slices
    2 for $1 glazed donuts
    Free chili & cheese
10 Large Hot Wing Zings $7.90
Lastly, Slurpees! Need I say more?

  4. This place right here, is my hot spot… The yogurt corn muffins are addictive and I love getting a cup of tea there because they have a variety of creamers that my house just isn't equipped with. The line is never really too bad, especially in the morning. The staff aren't perky but they get the job done and always let you know what their current promotion is.

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here no matter what time of day; and am always around when they have a promotion because I gots to get my Slurpee on or just to get some quick snacks.

  5. Never had a bad experience at this 7-Eleven. Great place to stop for a coffee in the morning, and right now they have buy one get one free slurpees. They also have a pretty good variety of cold drinks and snacks (they have Quest Bars!). I don't ever eat the hot "food" at 7-Eleven because I'm afraid of it, so I have nothing to say about that. It's a pretty small 7-Eleven but it gets the job done.

Only complaints: The coffee table can get pretty messy at times and there isn't much room for the line at the register.

  6. This is the best 7-Eleven in my neighborhood.  They have a large selection of slurpee flavors . Snacks and drinks are priced low.
Staff is helpful of needed, but they generally stay clear of the customers  unless called upon.
