  1. Service here was slow… even with three check-out cashiers. They'd do well to replicate the CVS effort of self-check-out (then I'll just blame the slow customers instead of slow cashiers).

Big space. Not sure it's used well but they appear to have a big deli space with sushi, custom frozen yogurt, etc. Downstairs they have more supplies and household goods like your normal convenience pharmacy.

  2. Wow , this Duane reade turned from a cheap "Express" DR to a super fancy one.  They have Froyo, Smoothies, and even sushi chefs there to prepare rolls for you. Right now they have free samples for you to try also.

    2 levels

    Ground level –
has food(Sandwiches, Sushi, Froyo, bagels), Drinks (Smoothies, Soda, water, coffee), and Snacks (Chips etc.)

    Basement level –
Go down and you have most of the pharmacy items such as drugs, eye drops, cough drops, ear drops, pretty much a solution for whatever problem you have downstairs.

Love this more since it's right across the street from my work building!

  3. On my day off to ward off agita, frustration and irritation on my way home after a sneak visit to the nearest Crumbs (oops, sorry Marlene Q. but I still LOVE ya very much!) I desire vitamin water to accompany my Squiggle and chocolate sprinkle cupcakes.

The outside of this Duane Reade states "Duane Reade Express" which is my first encounter.  This location inhabits at the end of the theater district/Times Square area as this store is somewhat small.  I did not wait on line long to be served though, despite of the usually unpersonalized service as other Duane Reades.

  4. The mullet of drugstores!  (Actually more of a reverse mullet)

It's a party up top, what with all your foods, fro-yo and nachos …

…and business downstairs, with your detergent, shampoos and those creams that make you stop itching where you really don't want to itch.

They are usually well stocked for a Duane Reade and I rarely leave without getting what I came for.  The line upstairs is usually long but the cashiers are consistently more efficient than those at the other DRs in a five block radius (I think there are about 75 other Duane Reades within five blocks).

Haven't used the pharmacy ever, but that's only because I'm anti-drug.  Unless beer is a drug, in which case I'm pro-drug.  But otherwise, strongly anti-drug.

For as much foot traffic as this store gets (right on Broadway and 52nd) it stays very clean.

Give it up to the mullet!

  5. The Duane Reade located in Queens is not as big of this location. It seems like your normal convenience pharmacy, carries almost same  merchandise that you see from other locations except  that it has food section which offer various amazing selections ….fresh market, sushi bar, frozen yogurt, deli, fruit juices bar etc.etc.  I am just wondering why there was not much traffic though? Was it because it was two days after the snow storm? We were trying to kill time for the scheduled  Late Show with Stephen Colbert taping show and we found this place. It made our stay worthwhile. Noticing the price though( it's NY baby!) , I 'll stick to my regular pharmacy and store.
