I agree with Peter D., this deli sits on the very corner of the F train on 16th Street/ Sixth Avenue from Brooklyn making my second connection originating from Queens. As you walk up the stairs to street level the strong stench of bacon is thoroughly intoxicating and incredibly deceptive to draw patrons within. I was at wits end to be repelled for my morning ritual, breakfast.
This is my latest incarnation for breakfast while the others were a disaster for mediocre quality at deceptively expensive prices. Blue Valley Deli price is very reasonable for my toasted bagel with butter and ham at $2.60. Mixed fruit salad by the register is under $5.00, which is well below what the standard NY deli or gourmet cafes fend. No seats are available as this deli is best for takeout and no facilities on premises for patrons either. I would surely return for my afternoon ritual, lunch as Yelpers disclose salads are favorable.
There is really only one reason that I continue to order from this place – they're close to me. The bread (rolls, bagels) are always stale. Almost every time I call for delivery they mess my order up.
On the flip side, their staff is super friendly.
This place is located directly outside the 16th Street exit for the F Train coming from Brooklyn. Which means that every morning, every FREAKING morning, I walk up those stairs and I am assaulted by the intoxicating, irresistable aroma of bacon.
Blue Valley, you are the reason I will not be bikini-ready when summer comes around.* But you're also the best deli in the immediate area.
Your bacon egg and cheeses are excellent.
At $5.50, your heros are large and an amazing value.**
Your salad bar is fresh and cheap.
Your selection of scones and croissants and beer and gelato…it's good.
Delis like this are one of the many reasons NYC is better than other cities.

*Admit it, before my office moved an avenue away, I made that bikini look good.
**The chicken club, with bacon, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato and ranch…I like it.
