Well…..uhm…..I mean….it is New York…..and small spaces happen….and this is an area with small neighborhood stores…..and you can just walk over a few blocks to a much larger, more Manhattan/chain store……..and I guess I just didn't realize what I was walking in to……but this is the kind of Duane Reade I'd expect to walk into while in the 104th and Madison (yup….y'all know them Project Houses of which I speak), not while in one of more expensive real estate areas of the city…..as a matter of fact, I've been to the Duane Reade in that other area of town….and it's 4-5 times the size, much cleaner, and has much more light.
The Duane Reade is really like a bodega and a Duane Reade had an affair….and out popped a little mixed baby store. It's not the cleanest….it's rather small….when you walk in you encounter a newspaper rack instead of the circular rack….there are three aisles….minimal choices…….and the cashier was more interested in having a conversation with her girl and making sure she got her lotto ticket than attending to the growing line. Mind you, she was very professional – in her way – when she actually wrung up my items. But, I'm sorry. I'll walk a few more blocks to avoid this one in the future.
I came in here looking for a tasty beverage. I wasn't in the mood for water or soda but something different. Sadly, they only had a small fridge with boring old stuff. I had to go elsewhere for my thirsty needs.

Just about the teeniest little Duane Reade you've ever walked into.
Good for filling out prescriptions, getting the most basic of necessities, and maybe stocking up on some mixers and pouched margaritas.
Since it is SOOOO freaking small, it doesn't boast the variety of the 42nd St DR. But it does the job when you're on 9th.
