As most of you know, I am always of the look out for delicious coffee! And when I want coffee I sometimes want a little treat. And who isn't a sucker for atmosphere? I have been roaming the streets of Bushwick in hopes of a good little spot to chill at. This weekend I found a great little outdoor coffee shop that was the bee's knees! Drum roll please….the coffee shop is Mixtape!
I know, the name alone draws you in. Mixtapes are the sign of friendship and love in the nineties! Only an older individual would know the importance of a mixtape. How important for each song to hold hand in hand and lead into each other. I still have some of my favorite mixtapes. Back to the coffee shop…they have tons of tapes…I didn't see mixtapes though. I did spot Ovenly cookies! I was quick to order the granola cookie. The iced coffee was delicious and they even poured the soy milk in for me. I met Gavin and Hannah while I sat on the outside seating area. They were both super sweet. I was informed that the bagels came from "BagelSmith". I will have to make a trek for a bagel soon. One could easily tell that this place knows quality. Gavin even expressed a want to bring in some "Doughnut Plant" doughnuts! Oh yeah! Pleassssseee do!
The only time when it got interesting was when the train ran through. It was like the scene in Annie Hall where Woody Allen explains growing up in Coney Island. We had to stop talking and let it run through. But it also made you feel very NY.
There are unfortunately no restrooms that I could tell. They do take cards. Mixtape is so pleasant and close to some of my fave bars that I will definitely be returning.
They also have Ritual Roasters from San Francisco that is my favorite!
This is my new favorite coffee place and it's barely 100 feet from my apartment. A cute little walk-up coffee shop right by Myrtle-Wyckoff and really the only place of its kind in the area. Their prices are great, but their service is even better and they've expanded their menu a bit with more food and pasty choices since they opened up. They are always playing cool music and there's a few seats that you can hang at outside if you don't want your stuff to go. Overhang is big enough so they can still open up in the rain and you can get your caffeine fix.
They have some incredible coffee though. You can tell the people there really know and care about coffee and you are still getting it for the cheapest price in the area. Their bagels are delicious too. I haven't tried many of their pastries but it is perfect to be able to get coffee and breakfast from the same place now, since I can't hang with the food from Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks.
Since Fair Weather Bushwick closed, this place has taken over the territory as the go-to hot coffee spot in the area. Their Vietnam iced coffee is a must. Now that the weather is nicer, it will be my every day drink.
Kudos to Mixtape.
So doped in this neighborhood
Location: This is my very first time traveling all the way from Manhattan to the center of Brooklyn (location-wise).
Compared to other places, this place is well decorated, they have street art painting on the wall, and a doped window for coffee service.
I know that they service bay area great coffee brand so i came here a bite. But when i got here, they also have oslo coffee beans.. so i am not sure which coffee bean they used for ice coffee. But their coffee is really tasty!!
They front dude who serves coffee is pretty nice and allow me to decide on what coffee I want.. great
Comparably pricy coffee based on their location.
But I do wanna come since this place is very unique and I do want to spend some time in Bushwick.. an interesting place.
Discovered this hole in the wall coffee place while staying in Bushwick on vacation. Best drip coffee I had in New York (or ever?), tastes perfect without milk or sugar, and all that for 1 dollar.
Good bagels and friendly staff, too, plus likable mix of customers and good music. If you have the time and weather permitting (outside seating only), great place to sip your morning brew and watch life on Myrtle Ave.
Mixtape, we'll miss you back home in Europeland!
