La Colombe Coffee

“Located in TriBeCa it was the quintessential NYC cool coffee joint for the coffee lovers and hipsters alike.”

“No fancy frilly coffee here, no fraps or double mocha caramel lattes just straight up good coffee.”

“It was the perfect blend of nuttiness without veering into burnt, slightly sweet and balanced, beautifully made with a fern in the milk.”

    Five Stars Update

It has been two years since I reviewed La Colombe. I have been here at least 15 times according to my checkin history. This is one of the best coffee shops in the city.

First, the coffee is fantastic. They roast and sell their own coffee. Their cold brew includes a default shot of espresso which adds that kick of caffeine and flavor. All of their espresso drinks are expertly made. They now have a draft latte which is sugarless milkshake wh in combines cold press coffee and frothed milk to create a naturally sweet, full bodied beverage.

Second, they have great pastries that will sell out everyday. I particularly like their croissants.

Third, the price point is a dollar cheaper than any of their competitors.

Fourth, the staff is always friendly and professional.

Lastly, the space is small with limited seating but I always seem to find a place to sit and relax.

  2. Stopped in here for the coffee, it was amazing! I had the latte. The service was very nice, with a short wait. The only thing I didn't like…. was that the Latte only came in one size, and not big enough! I would have like to have double the size, it was so good.

  3. I have lattes all the time. Seriously- it is even in my Yelp page's "favorites" section. The iced latte on tap at La Colombe is one of the best that I've ever had- so smooth, airy, velvety. Up there with the lattes served at Intelligentsia's cafes located in Chicago. Will be back whenever I have the chance.

  4. I loved this location (over their other locations). It's beautifully set up and less busy, it seemed. I think because it was less busy, the staff was friendlier. I tried their classic drip coffee again, as well as an almond croissant, which was killer.

  5. Nice comforting environment! The brick walls keep the location cozy and create a hip ambiance. The coffee is very good. Took a star away because there is no menu. Let my friend who comes here every day to order from me. I would recommend this place but would also recommend a menu.

  6. These guys don't need another positive review, but they deserve it anyway.  La Colombe roasts their own coffee, which is a nice change from your typical Manhattan coffee chain.  The baristas are very knowledgeable about all things coffee and the service is exceptionally fast (without jeopardizing quality).  The menu is quite comprehensive, with the cold brew being a personal favorite (very rich, and very bold).  Thankfully, most items on the menu are very comparably priced relative to neighboring coffee shops.

The space itself is small, so snagging a table during the busy weekend hours might be a bit difficult considering how popular the shop is.  That said, a must go.

  7. Really good quality colombian coffee! You can probably tell by the long lines that are frequent here. The taste is strong and it's a bit pricy but worth it. I usually get the latte, the pastries and croissant is also very good.

  8. My wife has been raving about this place and their coffee for a while and buys their beans for our family constantly, so I stop in every time I am walking by.  The guys clearly didn't go to the Starbucks school of coffee making and somehow manage to produce significantly higher volume in the same amount of time without sacrificing quality.  I don't think I've ever had a flat white made faster and taste better.  Their regular coffee (I didn't mine black) is excellent.
