I ordered a taro bubble tea (I'm afraid I'm unoriginal with my bubble tea choices) from T Baar after morning, Sunday brunch at Sweet Afton, across the street. This T Barr location, a store front without seating, was sleepy. I guess this franchise replaced the Monkey King bubble tea that used to be here.
I found T Baar's bubble tea acceptable. I haven't graduated to distinguishing between bubble tea companies. I just know a good one from a bad one- I thought they were all pre-powdered mixes anyway, so how can that really be messed up? In Flushing you can't throw a penny without hitting a bubble tea joint and I doubt the natives can tell the difference themselves. So, is the case with T Baar. I can't really tell you if I found it any better than Cafe Bene's or Vivi's bubble tea. I can only tell you it was a good bubble tea. It wasn't overly sweet, I could taste the taro flavor, and the powder was well incorporated into the drink. The only distinction I could discern was an added sweetness to the black tapioca bubbles and a hint of almond- that I found pleasant. I'm not sure if it was due to their sweetener or the blender being improperly washed. Either way, I enjoyed it and I'd return for another bubble tea.
