  1. My boyfriend noticed the 'Grand Opening' sign before I did. We were walking down Village Plaza when we passed by this new bubble tea spot in South Orange Before I knew it, we were inside checking it out. Actually, I wasn't sure if it was open yet because it was a few minutes after the closed time posted on the door, but there was a customer in there, so we timidly went inside.

The girl at the counter was friendly and told us that they were still open. She said the business has been open for about a week. It's a small space. It's more like a grab-on-the-go spot (so you can sip on your drink while walking around the village), but there are a few places to sit by the storefront window.

I ordered an almond milk tea (B9) and my dude got a taro green tea (B4). There aren't many places in Essex County where you can get bubble tea, so this place gets a high rating from me. I liked the almond milk tea. It had a good taste and the tapioca was soft and chewy. I'd give it 4.25 stars. My boyfriend gave his taro green tea 4 stars.

I'm definitely going to come back to try the other items on the menu. There are sweet crepes, fresh juices, milk teas, smoothies, and hot drinks (like kumquat and lemon tea). There's also this "ice stick rice" that my boyfriend noticed on the menu board when we were waiting for our drinks. I'm not sure what it is exactly… I guess it looks like he'll be the one to find out between the two of us!

Bubble' Pop offers something different that South Orange hasn't had before (at least from what I've seen there over the past 5 years or so). It's cool to try new things, so I would recommend at least checking it out.

  2. Clean, cute lil tea shop. Also sells crepes savory and sweet. The staff was friendly and smiled.   Conveniently located near the station

  3. I'm happy this place opened up since no one in South Orange sells boba. It may be hard to find since it's just a small shop–Bubble Pop is located near Ricaltons, next to Walia, and across from Pandang. There are only three window seats, but they do have free wi-fi.

Honey Green Tea ($4.25): The "popping boba" is pretty neat; I'm not used to juice filled pearls. The honey and green tea flavors blend pretty well, while the juice in the boba have a kind of sweet but tangy taste to them.

We also tried the Vanilla Bubble Tea ($4.25) and the Taro Bubble Tea ($4.25). The vanilla and the taro flavors were strong and not watered down. However, if you're not into fragrant, rosy types of teas, the drinks here might be an acquired taste.

Still, this place is a nice addition to South Orange Village Center. I wouldn't mind stopping by for my regular boba fix. The owners are also really friendly and I'm always happy with the different flavors I order. Oh, and the name "Bubble Pop" reminds me of the song by Hyuna (K-Pop star), but I digress…
