  1. Holy moly, this place alone makes the erstwhile skeevey Chelsea strip along 8th Avenue as a viable candidate for gentrification. For now, maybe they're just delivering robust coffee roasts to busy improvisers/hipsters/millennials and the odd stray tourist lost resting their legs from a stroll on the High Line.

Good coffee, cheerful space, friendly staff, free WiFi. The menu boats plenty of swank beverages — at Park Avenue prices. Even my regular coffee approached $3.00. I realize it's the norm these days for specialty shops, so if you're cool with the spend, I can't see much downside to killing some time here.

  2. I guess you are right…this place is more like an organic store than a regular coffee shop; however they do serve above average espresso drinks, as well as freshly baked pastry and even chia-seed yogurt. Long communal tables were everywhere so there was no difficulty spotting a seat, even during rush hours.

  3. i just ordered an oatmeal cookie here so i could get out of the rain and sit and write. it was soft chewy and sweet. the place itself isnt anything particularly special…just a single drip coffee shop that also serves avocado toast. it has no vibe, personality or uniqueness though. ive seen it many times on my walk to TJs or whole foods.

  4. I've been cheating on Starbucks with Bean & Bean… So much so, that I visit on a daily (with the exception of those holiday drinks, can't get me off that caramel brûlée latte!).  I've been coming here since it opened last Summer and when they used to make just regular organic ice coffee instead of making you buy the "cold brew" ice coffee.

Their service is friendly, baristas are awesome, cuz after just a few visits, they knew my drink on speed dial!  The place is clean, spacious compared to the NYC norm aka "cozy" and often packed with start-up kids… (I think they replaced the hipster era).

I've had their cappuccino, americano, latte, ice coffee and some baked goods.  Coffee/espresso drinks are solid, I love it!  However the baked goods are not the best & you can totally get better ones elsewhere.  Self serve station with organic milk & restrooms for their customers.  The prices are decent, that's a big plus for this area – I'm a fan!

  5. When I first walked in, I was surprised by the amount of space this location had. I was please to see a high ceiling and an open space. It's not like the small coffee shops that I often find. There seemed to be a lot of seating too. I mean, not available at the moment I went, but there. I couldn't speak to outlets for computers/chargers because I didn't need one. They had a pretty cool avocado toast. I'm interested in trying more on their menu. Will have to update after I go again!

  6. Since I gave up coffee for lent, i got to try their hot chocolate… yummmmm!! Very cholatey and milky. Not watered down like starbeezy.  Cute coffee shop. Perfect place to study… maybe not study i think it'll be too noisy with the traffic of people in n out. Friendly service, although the male that assisted us was a little awkward like a robot.

  7. The baristas at Bean & Bean make a delicious chai latte, so I tip my cap to them. It was delicious and tasty, something that is often overlooked at coffeehouses. The chai ran about $4 – $5, which is about the standard rate but I didn't bat an eye since it was made really well.

The interior was really cool. Bean & Bean pulls off something I seldom see, it was edgy and industrial, yet also somehow warm and inviting. A very tough combination to pull off.

I can't speak for the coffee, but it seemed pack and it gets good reviews so it seems to be good across the board.

Overall I recommend this place, but Bean & Bean, I have one question: Why the Norah Jones?

  8. After walking the high line in early April – I was in need of a good hot drink. My friend used Yelp to find this place and in we went.
High ceiling, big floor length Windows- almost feel like a chilli out area in an office  – minus the stress.
I had the green tea latte which was reasonably priced, and as tasty as hell (perfectly sweeten)!
I'll be back if I'm in the area.
