  1. This is one of the better cold brews around Bryant Park. I usually grab one and sit in the park. The seats (no table) inside the cafe are very limited, better luck finding one in the library or the park. The staff is very courteous.

  2. Bryant Park location! Grab your iced latte and a picnic blanket and head to the park. There's really not a lot of seating inside, which is okay. The only bad thing is that their lattes are too small. Next time I'll order two for myself.

  3. Coffee in NYC seems to be available on a scale. On the left: cheap and tastes like sugar and milk. On the right: tastes like coffee, and ridiculously expensive.

As you'd expect, Blue Bottle is closer to the right.

$4 can net you a small cup of Single Origin cold brew. It's smooth, tart, deep, roasty, and packs quite a punch. If you like the taste of coffee, you'll love this.

The service was quite friendly and chatted me up about what I usually get for coffee and they made a recommendation. They also gave me a free sample of the Kyoto style coffee (very strong, quite tart but not in a sharp way, realllly rounded and rich body)

However, at the grocery store, I can get a small milk carton of their New Orleans cold brew (sweetened and has milk) for just $2.15. Also very delicious, but a different concept. Much cheaper too!

Overall, I have a very favorable impression of Blue Bottle as a place that is serious about their coffee – but serious coffee comes with serious prices.

  4. Great taste, flavor, and presentation always!!

I had a time before checking in hotel, so I decided to spend sometime in my favorite place, Bryant Park. I'm glad to find blue bottle was right across the street!

There were only few counter seats, but I was able to find a seat at Bryant Park. No line when I was there, but it seemed like super crowded after lunch time with business man/ woman around here.

If there were more seats fronting to Bryant Park, it would be great in cold winter.

  5. This is one of the greatest places to go grab coffee. Their beans constantly surprise me in terms of consistency of taste and roasting. I'm glad they've expanded from Oakland to the east coast. Whenever I'm in the city, I make sure I go out of my way to grab a bag of beans and a coffee from here. Then you can grab your coffee and blue straw (if you got a cold drink) across to Bryant Park and continue to take basic Instagram pictures to the envy of all your yuppie friends. Thus are some of the highlights of my sad life – some hearts popping up on my phone from the likes I get on Instagram. But someone's gotta do it and post it on Snapchat too, am I right or what?

Of course, if you're at the actual store and it's a hot summer afternoon, you must get yourself a cold New Orleans or grab a cold brew. If not, their lattes are great and the presentation is flawless. I love their pour overs too and am a big fan of the Bella Donovan beans.

The location itself is a small quick serve location where you grab and go and there's often a small line forming out the door. Prepare to be served by very hipster baristas with beards and cool clothes and of course an apron that looks way too good on them to be a work uniform. I envy the people who can just pop by and take a quick coffee break during work. There's not a lot of seating at this location though, just one short counter space so definitely a place to chitchat or do a meet up (I guess that's what Bryant Park is for).

**For my home brewing coffee drinkers out there, I must admit that Blue Bottle beans are probably not best suited for a French Press, especially their lighter roasts. If you can, do yourself a favor and buy a Chemex and do a pour over.**

Meta moment of honesty: Wow, I just read my review of what I wrote above and I have truly become a ridiculous basic yuppie coffee snob. This is what working in a city does to you. It wears you down. Until you're just a shell of who you used to be.

  6. I'm mostly a tea person and felt like I needed a quick jolt of caffeine before work, thought I'd try a uniquely brewed coffee since I rarely drink it.  it costs about $4.50 for a regular size cup of coffee but I think it was worth it.  The black coffee had so much character and complex taste, I thought about it for a good 2 hours.

They individually brew each cup and that makes all the difference.  This place will turn you into a coffee snob….I now think twice about going into a spot that only serves large batch brewed coffee.

  7. Blue bottle is a chain coffee store with multiple locations across the city. They have a fairly modern layout and a very simple menu (and snacks). IMHO, as a chain store, they have one of the best drip coffees! They always switch their menu so you get to taste different blends – and they are always amazing. The flavors are so rich and deep and it definitely gets your morning going. If you like lighter coffee, drip might not be for you. Currently, they are serving Uganda (amazing) and Honduras (should be good too but haven't tried). Blue Bottle's iced coffees are pretty good. Didn't realize that the milk and syrup was automatically added but recently tried their New Orleans (coffee + syrup + milk). Good kick with a very sweet aftertaste. Would recommend if you like half and half with your coffee.

  8. Great coffee – dark and smooth. Highly recommend coming to Blue Bottle if you've never been.
