Irving Farm Coffee Roasters

“The main thing about this place that is difficult to find in UWS (at least for me) is that they do pour over cups.”

“The Upper West has just won another battle in the fight against mediocre coffee.”

“Towards the back is a great opening with a nice skylight (good natural lighting) and an alcove for a group of 4+.”

  1. I came here last Thursday when I was in NYC for just a day. I got a panini and an iced chai. Both were amazing but $19 for a sandwich and tea, I know it's New York but it's just a little pricey. Still tasted great though, the chai was the best I've ever had!

  2. After an hour's wait at Levain's nearby, we took our cookies here to eat with a coffee and hot chocolate. My fiancée's coffee was just right! I wish the UES had a spot like this cause the vibe here was on point. A good amount of seating with a great coffee selection.

If I'm ever in the UWS again and I need to get stuff done, this'd be my first choice!

  3. Delicious coffee and beer, and fantastic, friendly service.  The lines can get really long on weekends, with limited seating. Nonetheless, my best friend and I love to meet here to touch base.

  4. It must be my fault… every time I make the same mistake.

I order coffee from the coffee place.

I know, I know, but hear me out.

I like coffee… I want coffee… why can't the fancy roasters ever put ANY focus on the actual coffee.  They're always focused on the espresso and espresso drinks.  It's like you automatically get a pass to cool-vill when the lattes come with fancy foam drawings of leprechauns.

So back to the coffee.  It was somehow watery and bitter at the same time.  This is hard to achieve because usually watery coffee doesn't have enough substance to also be bitter… but HERE WE ARE!

So what I'm saying is, don't order coffee from here.. ever.

  5. A chai runs pretty steep here, but their pumpkin seed milk is to die for. Great location in the middle of the dining concourse of Grand Central Station, perfect place to rest and people-watch.

  6. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is due to their lack of wifi. It's the perfect setting to relax and do HW, but if you're going to need Internet then this isn't the coffee shop for you.

You almost never need to worry about fighting for seats because it's such a large space; something very uncommon for the city.

Drinks are a little pricey but pretty on par for the area.

Irving Farms, add wifi to your locations and you'd be perfect.

  7. Good coffee, with three brews available for pour overs.

Smiling service, big well-lit space.  I've been here mostly during weekdays and it's full but always has seats.  (Weekends are another story–I've walked by and seen lines out the door.)

If you like pastries, gird your goddamn loins and get ready to eat.  They've got a lot to choose from.  I've only sampled a very little bit.  Try their fancy take on a pop tart, maybe.

No wifi.  Tragic.  It's almost like they want to make a profit or something.

  8. It's disappointing to see this coffee shop not be properly taken care of. Nobody seems to clean the tables or floors with any regularity. The food continues to be good, as is the coffee service.
