I really enjoy Roasting Plant. It's a bit of a conflict of interest for me with my marriage to Lost Weekend just down the block but when I'm in the mood to risk divorce Roasting Plant is my mistress. Their espresso drinks, similar to a lot of shoppes in the area is ground on order. Their price point is also comparable to the locals, with most drinks costing between $3-4. What makes Roasting Plant standout amongst competitors is the award-winning chocolate chip cookie which regardless of when you snag is somehow gooey and soft in the center and pleasantly crispy around the edges. The servers here tend to be friendly and less hipster-ish than the norm for the neighborhood which is quite refreshing. The tube transport system makes for a fun atmosphere and although they lack the seating to stay awhile it's at least lined with outlets for device charging. I always feel warmly welcomed here and look forward to coming back when I'm itching for an affair.
I'll keep this short and sweet.
I was going to go to another place when I read a quick review and saw that they had the 'best chai ever'- sold. So, got the chai, a medium for $4.75, and it really was pretty good. Think a souped up Green Mountain Coffee flavor with a little bit more foam. Definitely give it a try because I think this is what chai is supposed to taste like.
Also, if you get coffee, you get to watch the B&H-like process of the beans getting sucked up and sent places by these tubes everywhere. It's pretty cool.
Also, also, there are only 3 seats in there so it's kinda cramped, but they have outlets on them which came in very handy as my phone had just died.
I really like the machines that they use here and how every cup is brewed individually which controls taste and ensures its freshness. My favorite coffee here has to be the bali blue moon. It is a dark cup with a lot of depth. You can order it hot or iced. Which brings me to another thing. If you get iced coffee, many are probably worried about the ice watering out the coffee. They have a machine that runs the coffee through ice in loops so that it chills it by the time it hits the end and into your cup. Pretty awesome!
I was looking for a place to study while sipping coffee, and this place was nice, but way smaller than I imagined. There are only 4 seats facing the tubes of coffee beans, but to make up for it, each one comes with an outlet next to it! I felt bad for taking up space for hours, so I went to sit on the bench outside. The wifi still reached, and it was a great way to soak up the summer sun.
The coffee is strong and good. This is a must try for you Yelp-ing coffee aficionados. It's cool seeing the beans get sucked up into the tubes but it does get quite loud, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a quiet place to sit.
I loved how neat it was to see the coffee beans of your flavored choice be sucked up through those clear, very modern, futuristic like tubes to get freshly grinded for your cup of coffee. Along the wall you will see various clear containers displaying coffee beans of all sorts of flavors and from all over the world. I know as a coffee addict, I had a hard time deciding on what to order. Once you place your order at the register, you see the beans get sucked up to the grinder. So cool! It felt like I was on a field trip learning how coffee is made haha. There isn't too many seats available, there was just a few seats by the opposite side of the wall with outlets and enough space for a laptop. The staff is friendly and the coffee is great! Smooth, rich and at least my coffee was strong like I like it. Gotta check it out at least once. Loved it!
I only ever order black coffee from coffee shops and this place has the best iced coffee I've ever had – the Sulawesi and Ethiopian blends are both delicious, only moderate acidity and bitterness, with very subtle sweet/flavorful parts to round out the taste that make the coffee delicious and go down insanely smoothly.
They suck the beans over your head from their container to the grinder. It's definitely a 'technical' coffee place where they roast, grind, and prepare the coffee in optimal ways to preserve flavor and the smell… especially the smell. It smells absolutely amazing in this place. The staff are all really cool and laid back. Food-wise, they serve a couple of baked goods (quinoa cookie, bread/loaf slices) and nuts/KIND bars. It's a smaller space, so it ends up being more of a get your coffee and go place, though they do have fast wi-fi and a couple seats on a bench.
Easily, I think, the best coffee in the area.
This place has the best, THE BEST, chai tea latte we've ever had. It's so rich and flavorful. The tea has a nice spiciness to it, the two of us almost fought for the drink and had to order a second. The place is so nice and clean with an interesting JavaBot machine. Next time we come, we'll definitely order a coffee to watch the machine work. Nice location, nice people, overall wonderful place.
A small, perfect coffee shop founded by a former Starbucks employee. Watch the coffee beans soar over your head and into your cup with their unique brewing method. And they can make any coffee iced!
