This Duane Reade is on the larger side, which I appreciated. The cashier seemed a bit dumbfounded by a pricing issue a couple in front of me was having, but once I was ready to check out, things ran quite smoothly.
They sell single-serve ready-to-eat cups of haagen dazs and skinny cow ice cream from a cooler near the front of the store, but they don't supply spoons; they advise you to go to the deli next door to ask for a spoon. Kind of moronic.
Like most Duane Reade stores, everything is shockingly overpriced.
The only thing this place has going for it is that it's large, with a relatively big selection.
This really isn't a bad option to know about if you're in the area to visit, live, walking through Central Park North, visiting Mt. Sinai, or whatever your business may be. Yes; the workers, as Pamela S. put it (and brought a great chuckle to my belly 🙂 can be "apathetic, slow-as-molasses" folk. But, whenever I've really needed help, they've always given it to me when I asked, worked together to figure it out, and even walked me to the product I couldn't find. The store is kept clean. There is a good amount of light. It's big, particularly for that area. The selections are good. The shelves are usually fully stocked. Hours are decent. And, if you can take the S.A.M. check out folk with a grain of salt, it's really not all that bad. Mind you, if you're in rush and with someone, you may want to have one person wait in line while the other grabs the goods 😉
