  1. This is such a great bakery on upper west with some of the best croissants and pastries. Hands down one of the best almond croissants I have ever had – flaky but not too buttery, and the almond taste really comes through in a subtle not in your face way.

Great breakfast deals as well with coffee + croissant for $5. Their macaroons are also great. Can't go wrong with anything in here.

  2. I was on my way to the bookstore and i passed by and saw a sign that advertised a plain or chocolate crossiant and coffee for $5.00 up until 11A. I took care of what I had to do and returned. I got a cup of coffee and a delicious hot chocolate croissant which was wonderful. tasty, flaky-it was well worth the stop. There are several tables along one wall which were taken but eventually opened up. They also had other delicious baked good which I have to try at another time. It is a real bargain but it is only until 11A. They also have a loyalty program where i think if you buy 10, your coffee is free [I have to look into this further]. I would recommend and will return.

  3. Looking for a nearby coffee spot had lucky enough to find Mille-Feuille Bakery

Very small establishment with a ton of character – they had bakery items like croissants, muffins & donuts & a huge case of macarons

We grabbed 3-shot lattes every day we were in NYC & they were consistently creamy & needed no added sugar

On our last day, we indulged in their Almond Croissants & let's just say they completely live up to the hype

Crispy & tons of flaky layers that exploded all over our faces ( like only the best croissants do ).  They had asked if we wanted them heated & it was brilliant – softened up the marzipan inside & it was almost like the whole croissant had been saturated with an almond simple syrup.  They were amazing!

And much to our surprise, this last day was also Macaron Day & we got a free macaron – there was a vanilla-rum and a caramel-bourbon & both were likewise amazing – crispy outside with gooey inside & the filling to cookie ratio was perfection.

Only regret is that we didn't get a ginormous box to take back with us – next time!!

  4. Of all the macarons available for us to try on Macaron Day 2016 – Mille-Feuille was unequivocally the best.

Their offerings: Caramel Congnac (!) and Vanilla Rum (!!).  What!?  Both slightly boozy macs were incredible!  The caramel one literally had this smooth caramel filling instead of typical macaron cream filling, and was just so good.  The vanilla rum was more typical in appearance but that shot of rum elevated the warm vanilla flavors to another level.

After our free macarons I inquired with the manager if the 'specials' were also for sale – he said 'sure!'   I sprung for a box of 4, including the two specials of the day as well as a Double Chocolate and Passion Fruit.  Both the DC and PF were excellent… the Passion Fruit especially was exploding with fruity flavor.  I'd order all four flavors again without any hesitation.

  5. Color me happy, on a cold January day in NYC all anybody really needs is a hot chocolate and a mille feuille.  And maybe a scarf.  But definitely something from this bakery!

My co-travelers enjoyed chocolate croissants, while I had my sight set on a hazelnut napoleon.  Find me anything hazelnut flavored and I will be a happy camper, but put hazelnut cream inside layers upon layers of impossibly flaky.. flakes.. and things do not get much better.

  6. Hypes:
    – Great place on the UWS with one of the best croissants I've had in Manhattan.
    – Almond croissant or the chocolate croissant is the way to go – if you are eating there, get it toasted. You get almonds, almond paste, and chocolate all enveloped in a crisp flakiness.
    – Delicious frothy not over powering cappuccinos
    – Breakfast deal : 5$ for a coffee and croissant

    Gripes:
    – not enough seating – it gets cramped at peak hours
    – the macaroons are too sweet. not worth it.

  7. I stopped by a little after 7 PM as they were about to close for a quick treat, getting an iced Americano to cool off and some pastries. Pleased to find that croissants were half off after 6 PM, and everything was around $8. Score. The service was warm and friendly even though it was towards the end of the day.

Almond chocolate croissant – They toasted it up for me and it was light, flaky and many layers. The texture was just right for a croissant. It was filled with a little almond paste and small chunks of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Wish it were a darker chocolate and more almond flavor but the croissant part itself was well executed.
Passionfruit macaron – Cookie bits were a good texture, glazed and hard shell with a chewiness inside. The filling had a very bright, citrusy fruity flavor but the cookie itself was more muted.

A quality French bakery, would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

  8. A lovely little place that the fiancée and I stumbled into when strolling around the Upper West Side. Okay, we used Yelp after Cafe Lalo was impossibly crowded but still.

I'll be honest, it was a tough day. I had a day of self-doubt and was wondering where life would lead me. But this place cheered me up! Could it be from the good vibes upon entering? The simple decor? The good vibes from the friendly employees behind the counter?

Or it was likely the scrumptious chocolate eclair that, scientifically, put enough sweet into my body and perked me up? Fiancée treated herself to a rose macaron and she approved. We shared a hot chocolate which was pretty basic but, when combined with our respective sweets, it made for a nice break from the cold outside… and in my heart. HA!
