  1. It's hard not to notice this place while driving pass it on the LIE.  I finally had the chance to check it out this wkd with a small group.  It's massive inside.  I rarely get the chance to eat Afghan food, and this place really is pretty good and affordable.  We ordered the chicken Kabab with green rice, Salmon Kabab with brown rice and also several different appetizers.  Everything was done well especially the rice.  I will definitely come here again.

  2. Ali Baba is THE place. I always enjoy coming here. The food is satisfactory. It hits the spot. I don't ever order American here. You get Persian food here, not American food.

  3. The family platter was great.  We got three different kabobs and green rice and the eggplant appetizer.  Its easily enough food for four people and for 50$ an affordable meal.  The combination included a pitcher of tea and soda.

  4. Ali Baba makes some if the best kebobs in Queens. It's an Afghani restaurant pumping out some authentic Afghani dishes around. Love their kofta kebob with Afghani rice and salad. Delicious. Their portions are huge, not overpriced, serving the freshest kebobs around. If your not into kebob then try one of their authentic Afghani appetizers or entrees  This place is a must if you live in Fresh Meadows.

  5. 3.5 Star for the food but the 1 star goes to service and the bill.  Food is ok but a bit pricey.

The 1 goes to service.  First of all we were the only people in the restaurant and I had to remind the weight staff we had food waiting both times for appetizers and main course. Secondly CAREFULLY REVIEW the bill for add ons .  I'll leave it at that.

I'm a bit upset about my experience there.  I've been driving by Ali Baba for year and so excited to visit after all this time.  Its unfortunate my experience was a bad one.

  6. Very interesting decor. I enjoyed the meal but service was slow, even with the majority of the restaurant empty. Would recommend to someone who wanted to try middle eastern but just know that this isnt the best in the area in either quality or price.

  7. Traditional Afghani food at reasonable prices. The restaurant inside is very spacious and the servers were friendly as well. The outside of this place will make you think otherwise but you have to give this place a try. The kebabs are delicious no matter what kind you get. Just remember to order the green rice with it. Something about that rice is delicious.

  8. I was absolutely in love with this place when I visited couple years back. Everything from the food to the decor was excellent! However, during one of my more recent visits, I was sadly disappointed!

The food quality here and really dropped. The meat is no longer juicy and flavorful as it used to be years back. The decor of the place has also changed from my first visit (which you will see in the pictures).

If you're really in the mood for Afghan Food, I recommend checking out other places such as Bakther (good food, but not much of an ambience) or Arya Kabob House (a bit more expensive than Bakthar, but quality of meats are better too). Both these places offer good quality Afghan Cuisine.
