Ha! It's true, this Rite Aid totally sucks. I do have some affection for this place, mostly due to the good natured ribbing I occasionally get from the people who work there. The ribbing is because if Kashi-brand cereal is on sale, I buy out their stock, meaning that I'm standing in line holding ten boxes of cereal and I admit that that is funny looking, but so worth it for the savings.
This place is dis-organized and dirty. The products are all over the place, some are opened and used. The staff just walk around and chit chat with one another, texting on their phones. There's better Rite Aid stores farther down, by 125th Street.
I stopped into Rite Aid to print a couple photos. I had called in earlier and was placed on hold for about 10min, so when I hung up and called back, before the pharmacist could transfer me again I asked if they in fact printed photos and she indicated that they did.
When I arrived, as many of the previous reviews attest, the line was incredibly long (how can it ALWAYS be long?) and the photo department was stuck behind this line with no staff. I tracked down another pair of staff that finished their chat with eachother before turning to me and telling me that the developer was broken. Great.
I do not know about their other services, but the staff I spoke with were far from helpful and I am glad I didn't have to wait in that line anyway!
The aisles have been reworked to be wider, brighter, & neater. The registers are manned — with more than one cashier! — and the line is significantly shorter. When the line starts to get backed up, the manager calls for another cashier and BOOM! you're out the door with your purchases.
The unpacked boxes that used to litter the aisles are gone. The employees are friendlier, filled with smiles & eager to help you find what you need. The store is bright, clean, & organized — just as you'd expect from a drug store!
I don't know if it's under new management, or they're big fans of Yelp, or what … but shopping here is suddenly bordering on pleasant. Well done, Rite Aid!
When the uptown 1 train skips a few stops going between 96th and 145th Streets, you will likely exit the subway close to this dumpy drugstore.
I was here over the weekend thanks to construction in the subway. Two shoplifters were being handcuffed by NYPD. Shame on the store owner for calling the police to hand over kids who seemingly only attempted to steal a few pints of Haagen Dazs ice cream … a justifiable misdemeanor in the sweltering heat?
Chaos rules in the aisles. Displaced items, poorly stocked racks, filthy floors, this Rite Aid has it all. Two stars for carrying umbrellas during the unexpected thundershowers … my only reason for going here.

It's like Rite Aid reads their reviews!
