Stopped in for a plain jane drip coffee date. I found my interactions with staff unremarkable, though my companion seemed a bit taken aback when the cashier turned her back for the electronic payment and later said not to click through the "finished" screen next time. Plenty of seating was available, though some people crowded and chatted around the condiment area needlessly, leading to a little backup. A few people were on laptops for a good half hour or more without comment from anyone. Whether this is a policy change or a fluke, I can't say.
The coffee itself was smooth but strong. I wouldn't go out of my way to return to this particular location, but I wouldn't avoid it if it was convenient.
A nice, large, airy coffee shop located steps from Atlantic Terminal is clutch; however, convenience might be its only draw. $8 for a "medium" almond milk latte that appears to be 10-12oz and a fairly large chocolate chip cookie is a bit much for me. Not to mention that the latte was lukewarm. The cookie, recommended by a friendly barista, was good- crisp edges, doughy center, and loaded with large, gooey chocolate chunks.
Good good stumptown coffee, nice atmosphere, aaaand they can make a legit NZ style flat white. Thank you for fulfilling my coffee needs Hungry Ghost!!! Xx
I like this place – came in for a snack, got an egg salad sandwich, which was great. The Romaine lettuce was a bit old but I wouldn't hold that against them. Good egg salad – fresh dill and nice spices. Bread was toasted perfectly. Reasonable prices, fast service, and nice folk working here. I would come back!
I have met a colleague here several times for "working coffee" dates. The seating is limited and trying to get a chair parallels trying to find parking in Brooklyn: hover hover hover false alarm hover hover swoop! The general crowding and bustle somehow takes away from my ability to enjoy the experience, which is not the fault of the business itself. What is nice if you are able to get a seat is that you are overlooking Flatbush and can people watch to your hearts' content. The cafe feels open, lots of light, very clean, but lacking in the cute local dynamic of say, Roots on 5th avenue in Brooklyn. They have a selection of pastries, bagels and the like for breakfast which I've never tried so cannot comment on. The coffee is okay, I don't particularly enjoy their regular blend which is Stumptown. I've never had a problem with the baristas, who have been pleasant. As for the no laptop seating rule, get over it, people! This is a very busy place, you don't need to colonize every corner for 5 hours while you check your facebook or work on your award-winning screenplay. One thing that annoys me is their lack of refills–you're charged full price again. I think it's again to discourage people from sitting around all day. Which is fine, but leads once more to the rushed/crowded feeling that keeps me from giving HG more than 3 stars.
Solid espresso cafe with Brooklyn's hipster vibe. They have a nice selection of pastries and sandwiches along with soup from Hale and Hearty. Good for catching up with friends or getting some reading done.
Great coffee shop! Spacious, friendly staff and excellent coffee and pastries. I mean they have doughnuts from Dough! What else does one need but coffee and a little something sweet.

After multiple weekends of struggling finding a quiet cafe in the city to do work, I've settled with Brooklyn. Which led me to Hungry Ghost.
And I still struggled to find a seat to do work.
Really cute spot to grab a coffee, though I think they're trying to shun away technology obsessed millennials like me. Theres two sunshinning tables on each side, but a clear sign that says "no laptop usage"

Here's the thing about us millennials, we don't give up. I ordered my tomato mozzarella pesto sandwich, and grabbed a sunshinning seat and landed my laptop onto my lap. Us millennials are also innovative.
Sandwich was delicious!! I tried to cover my happily satisfying face with every bite. It was a struggle eating my sandwich with my laptop on my lap, but well worth it.
Here's the breakdown: great place to grab coffee and a small bite. There are no outlets and limited laptop seats. But they do have wifi.
