  1. They have sausages that you can cook up at home pretty quickly, fun things like fresh mozzarella and pizza, and useful things like olive oil for when you forgot to add some to your salad for lunch in the office.

    Pricey, but not a surprise.

  2. Located inside the famous Grand Central Market, Ceriello of Manhattan is sandwiched between other food stands but it promises to deliver one thing: meat.  Whether it's aged steaks, whole birds or pre-prepared foods (raw and cooked), this stand has a lot to offer.

Most often I wind up getting cold cuts here to make sandwiches at the office.  The cuts have been consistently good.  One time I picked up some ham which was salty and rich.  Another time I threw in some swiss cheese, which was deep in flavor and tasty.  My only slight disappointment was the turkey I picked up last week, which was a bit dry.

The only criticism I have of this stand is focused around the staff.  Most of the time you will face one of two scenarios: either there will only be one or two guys there and they're swamped, or there's an army of people there but they're so busy stocking and moving stuff around that taking care of you becomes almost secondary.
Great quality product, but not the best service.

  3. I rarely shop here.  The reason is very simple:  this place is way expensive, even by NYC standards.

The marinated meats sold here are wonderful, even the cheaper cuts.  My personal favorite is the marinated Long Island duck breast.  If I am in a celebratory mood, I will sometimes buy one on the way home.

Yes, you can save much money by going to your local butcher or supermarket and marinating the meat yourself.  But, if you want to treat yourself, your inner-carnivore will certainly enjoy it.
