Love their empanadas here! There's so many choices here. The wait may be long tho due to the fact that they fry it right away. It is located right across Queens center mall so it tends to be busy most of the time. Their beef, cheese and chicken is very good, well actually all of them are pretty good.
I'm a very big fan of these empanadas! I always order the same ones which are chicken parm, caramel cheese, chicken fajita, and chicken and potatoes in the corn shell. The crunch and texture of that corn shell is awesome. The variety of sauces they offer are paired perfectly with all their different empanadas. My favorite sauce is the green one because it has the right amount of kick (spicy). This location is always very busy and the lines can get pretty ridiculous so I prefer to order over the phone while I take my time driving over there. I would have given 5 stars but I'm not a fan of the boss at this establishment because quite frankly her attitude is not suitable for someone working in the food industry. Most of the time when I order I usually have my boyfriend drive over there and pick it up just so I don't have to see or deal with her.
OMG OMG OMMMMMGGGG!
Why have I never stopped at a Mama's Empanadas before.
The words yum/delicious/tasty/ ohhh la laa must run off your tongue when you eat one of these empanadas. I swear they are life enhancing.
I love that you can choose between gluten or gluten free ones. And you can practically stuff it with anything! I'm telling you anything…they even have desert empanadas.
I can not wait to go back and eat every vegertarian option I can…and I will..
Please go! You will completely satisfied. Just don't eat any that are reserved for me!
Classic empanada joint; this place has never failed to keep their prices the same, quality the same, while maintaining great taste. You can have a meal for under $5, where can you find that these days?!!! They have two choices of shell- whole wheat or corn made. I like the pepperoni pizza empanada and the vegetable empanada, the ground beef and chili con carne are pretty great as well. Get the green sauce if you like spicy sauces, and the pink if you like mild foods! I'm imagining eating one right now because I can taste the crispy, freshly made goods right now mmmmmm.
When I walked up to the shop there were many people already loitering around. I wasn't sure where to order when I finished looking at the menu. The cashier was busy turned around chatting with her co-worker without a care in the world about the customers.
When she finally turned around I ordered the Chicken Empanada made with corn. It was more potato than chicken and the flavor was all in the green mayonnaise sauce that came with it. But it came piping hot and fortunately not dry.
Ok I'm no expert on empanadas
Left the queen center mall and was feeling a bit hungry but not starving (time for a snack)
This caught my eye and I quickly went to Yelp to see if I would die from eating here….maybe?
I ordered the chicken parm and it was 2.07 (tax included). There was only 4 people working so it took a bit of time.
My empanada is a good size, perfect for what I was craving for. The shell is flaky and soft and not uber thick. I walked from the store front to the station and it got cool very quickly(bummer). The filling is full and not too shabby. You got your fair share of chicken and it's cheesy.
However, I see why everyone raves about that green sauce. It is DELICIOUS! normally I don't care for the green sauce but she gave me it anyways and I said why not? It is spicy but not burning and flavorful enough that you have to eat it with every bite. I saw a sign that said one sauce per 2 empanadas. So boo?
I wouldn't go out of my way for it but if I'm around and a bit hungry, why not?
I have been meaning to try this location for the longest and thanks to my dear husband, he picked up some of these delicious goods for dinner! I'm pleasantly surprised and pleased with these empanadas. Generally, anywhere we have gone to order empanadas comes with a wait but it's understandable since it's freshly fried. But when you want empanadas, it's hard not to want it right then and there as you place the order! I would only get it from here if it's a short line because I'll be too anxious to eat it right away.
We tried the beef, chicken and hawaiian. Really liked all three with beef being my absolute favorite. Well flavored, stuffed with plenty of filling and loved the potato mix in there. I also like that these empanadas aren't overly fried. It was just right…perfect amount of crunch, crispiness and softness. The green sauce is great – thick enough without being too watered down.
Didnt know Mama Empanada was around here until I saw it with my own eyes by coincidence.
The food in here is cheap for less than $2 for empanadas. They are tasty, hot, and crispy.
My favorite is the beef with potato empanadas.
Definitely worth (by price and taste) coming here for some quick snacks!
