  1. Love the gelato here! IMO best in NY, along with Grom, Van Leeuwen, etc. I've brought so many friends here – it's convenient because of the proximity to the High Line, and the countless other options in Chelsea Market.

I always get the coffee + a fruity flavor. The coffee is lovely, with a strong smooth taste of espresso. I've tried the grapefruit, strawberry, lemon, berries – all great. At my latest visit (in the photo), grapefruit was light and refreshing. I find that their gelato in general tastes creamy and tasty with every spoonful without being too thick! I'll try some new flavors next time like the chocolates or the funky ones like olive oil – or maybe I'll just stick to my perfect usual combination heh

It's a little confusing figuring out the flavors, matching with the Italian names at the counter to the names on the board. The staff are also sometimes a little brusque, but I can't blame them as they have to deal with the whole atmosphere of Chelsea market…There's maybe 5-6 small tables and seating at the counter if you'd like to stay.

I would come here more often if it were closer + if Chelsea Market was not uncomfortably and noisily crowded every single weekend.

  2. A good one inside Chelsea market, that I simply cannot stop myself but to get a cone, just to chill down. With both gelato and sorbet, L'Arte has a great selection of flavors to choose from, though no real exotic ones…

Hesitated among pistachio, tiramisu and coffee, I decided to try something else this time: panna cotta and sour cherry. While panna cotta has a slight creamy texture, the sour cherry definitely carried a strong sour taste. Really loved the cherry meat floating inside my ice cream!

The line was a bit long during weekend afternoon times; yet definitely worth spending sometime waiting for that best piece of ice cream in this neighborhood!

  3. Delicious, delicious, delicious!
I got Panna Cotta, Hazelnut, and Dark Chocolate.
All of them sooooo good! My fiancé got Chocolate, Strawberry, and another fruity one. He liked all his choices as well. He mixed some of the Chocolate and the Hazelnut that I ordered, and let me tell you, you might as well should call it the Ferrero Rocher! It was amazing. Out of all, I can say I did like the Panna Cotta the most because of the caramel swirls in it. This is definitely a spot to visit when at Chelsea Market.

  4. I think the gelato here is good, but not spectacular. Unfortunately they only allow two tasting spoons per person, so plan ahead. I made a mistake of not realizing this so after eating my two flavors I didn't know what to get. I ended up with the pistachio since I figured that'd be a safe bet. It turned out to be good.

My friends also got other flavors like coffee, strawberry, mint chocolate, etc. Everything was good, although some were slightly too sweet for me.

There was a big line so I was expecting a bit more. That said if you are craving for dessert, it's not a bad idea to make a stop.

  5. Had the hazelnut gelato. It was okay, but nothing extraordinary. Maybe I'm spoiled from SF where there are so many great local ice-cream shops with creative flavors.

  6. My quest for the best gelato place in the city has been found! Unfortunately they are so super busy and they seem to forget about you and move onto the next person, while you are sampling. The flavor descriptions on the menu are pretty accurate and narrowed my choices.Their small cup allows you to pick 2 gelatos and it is a generous size. Although their sugar cones are nice and big and looks divine, the gelato seems to be unstably plopped on top of the cone that I did not trust myself with it.
sour cherry- divine, with a mixture of sour and creaminess.
mascarpone- very creamy with a hint of cheesiness.

I will be back before the summer ends to try them all!

  7. This place has such a long wait, but it's worth it!

I went with the strawberry and mint chocolate flavors which were fantastic! The texture is so creamy and flavors taste very natural. The smallest size comes with quite a bit of gelato, so it should be sufficient for satisfying any sweet tooth.

    Limit 2-3 flavors to try.

  8. "A-OK" describes it. Good gelato, but a bit on the sweeter side of my preference.
