Ample Hills Creamery

“I ended up having a kids size salted crack caramel on a chocolate chip cone, which was definitely enough for me!”

“Ooey gooey butter cake, sweet as honey, and snap mallow pop are standouts, but honestly everything here is perfection.”

“Nothing better than sitting on the rooftop on a summer night, enjoying the most excellent ice cream.”

  1. This is a cute family friend ice cream spot, but the ice cream here isn't anything special.  Maybe I am used to the exotic flavors at other ice cream joints, but the flavors here are a little plain.  It's not worth the extra trip.  If you're in the area, come, but if you're going to make a special trip, give it a pass.

The workers are pretty friendly. I got there around 7pm and all of the flavors were sold out already.  The ice cream here is also really expensive for the portions they give you.

Give the m&m cone a pass.  It was rock hard.  You will break your teeth eating it.  It's definitely not something for the little ones with small teeth.

Munchies – this was pretty decent, but it did not wow me.  Definitely not for the price and traveling.

Mexican Hot Chocolate – also pretty decent, but tasted like plain old chocolate.  Definitely not worth traveling for.

  2. Ample Hills lived up to the hype. They have a lot of fun flavors! I tried several, and they were all really good. The ice cream tasted very fresh.

One of my favorite things about this location is the rooftop! If the weather is nice, I highly recommend going there to enjoy your ice cream. The view is pretty, and the decorations were very cute.

  3. Nice flagship store for the ample hills creamery shop which have many shops in the city. This one is large with ample seating downstairs and upstairs. Bar area seating and a upstairs large gathering room with outdoor terrace. You also see the kitchen as well, where all the ice cream magic is thought up and made.

But you came here for the ice cream. A wide selection of creative ice cream flavors. On this day i went with the Gowanus, honey bee, and the salted caramel. The salted caramel was buttery and caramel flavors abound. Honey bee had that distinct sweet honey taste. The flavors really stand out. The salted caramel really is my flavor of choice. Deliscious and satisfying on a hot summer's day.

  4. There's a line at the door, wrapping 360 around the inside of this place at nearly 9:00pm on a Saturday night for a reason. Their ice cream is FIRE tho.

Coffee Toffee Coffee – if you have a weakness for coffee ice cream, you NEED to get this!

Snap Mallow Pop – while I don't get the obvious marshmallow flavor too much (not like it has too much to begin with anyways), it's always seems like a perfect compliment to any other flavor

All their ice creams are super thick and smooth, none of that grainy textured freezer burn nonsense. For a small $5 cup or cone, you get to mix two heaving scoops and the amount you get is actually worth it.

  5. I THOUGHT BI-RITE ICE CREAM (in SF) WAS AMAZING BUT CLEARLY I HAVE NEVER HAD AMPLE HILLS' BECAUSE THIS BEATS EVERYTHING.

    – Creative flavors without compromising texture
    – They make ALL their ice cream on site
    – Cute and large store for you to sit
    – CHILDREN FRIENDLY
    – Wouldn't recommend the pretzel/m&m/other fun cones

Tried almost all their flavors. Salted caramel was a bit too salty and burnt for me. OOEEGGGY-GOOEEEY WAS AMAZING. Butter pecan was very delicious (not too sweet, usually a bit overbearingly sweet at most ice cream stores). Oatmeal was a delight. I WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK FOR YOU AMPLE HILLS!!!

  6. Baby Girl decided she wanted to walk home from my job (Brooklyn Heights to Canarsie). On our trek, we stumbled upon this creamery and decided to stop in.

Noah immediately greeted us and began asking if we wanted to taste any of their many flavors. After tasting about 3 flavors, I decided to go with vanilla bean (boring I know, but it's never let me down). Nadia went with Snap Mallow Pop which was like vanilla mixed with rice crispy treats. Pretty good. Too sweet for me though.

    Loved this place!

  7. Amazing! The ice cream here is beyond delicious. Rich, thick and creative. I had the Ooey Gooey Butter cake and it was fantastic. It was sweet and filled with pieces of the Ooey gooey butter cake. The Raw Deal was delicious as well, it had what tastes like raw cookie dough pieces in it but so much better. They had such a big variety of different ice creams and the atmosphere was really cool. They give big sample tastes as well. Service was great with very helpful workers who can help you decide between different ice creams and give their advice and reviews of them.

  8. I'm a fan of Ample Hill. Sometimes the lines can be long but it's all worth it. The ice cream is like no other! They have crazy combinations like the Munchies : potato chips, pretzels, Ritz crackers and M&Ms…Talk about a stoners delight! The snap-mello is really good. It's their take on a marshmallow treat. The oooey gooey is one of my favorites. It's their oooey gooey cake mixed in to their delicious vanilla ice cream. The salty malty is also a fan favorite. Too many good flavors to choose from. I am a fan and my kids love it too! Be sure to check them out.
