Hanco’s
“Again, also more expensive than a lot of places in either Brooklyn or Manhattan Chinatown.”
“I've moved out of the neighborhood, but whenever I am back I pop in here for 2 things: bubble tea and Bahn mi!”
“We all ordered the Classic Sandwich which contained everything that a good banh mi should have in it.”

Alright well, the last time I came here I was not impressed at all. The times after my review have all been take-outs and deliveries which is alot better than the experience I've had at sit-down. Their bahn mi's are on the expensive side but I have to admit they are tasty. However, they don't clean the cilantro inside the sandwich, I occasionally bite down on a grit of sand or dirty whenever I eat the cilantro portion. Eh, whatever; still good. Summer rolls are average. They cut two shrimps in half to make it seem like four shrimp. Their pho is alot more expensive than other places ($9.50 compared to other's $7.50.) They also don't give you tripe..bummer because I love it. But overall, still average to me…would only get it as take-out
Hanco's has delicious bahn mi & pho. I really enjoyed their grilled pork bahn mi – flavorful & fresh! Their pho tasted very clean – not too much MSG, if any. It takes a while for the food to come when it's busy, but it's worth the wait.
This place is right by where my wife works and she's been raving about it so, I was pretty excited to check it out.
The decor could use some help but I have to say the food was excellent!
Their shredded chicken banh mi sandwich was on point — I in the past have had bad experiences with vietnamese sandwiches (mostly because I hate cilantro). The bread was soft, chicken was well cooked, and the sauce was delicious!
We also got the shrimp summer rolls which was pretty delicious as well. Their peanut sauce is slightly different than other places. Definitely a gem of Park Slope
One of my favorite little places in 7th Ave Brooklyn. I find myself visiting Hanco's all year around. In the winter I have to have their Pho or sandwiches. In the summer I have to have the spring roll or vermicelli noodle dishes and of course the bubble tea as well. What keeps coming to Hanco's is the constancy and flavor.
Free WiFi – 5 star
Layout – 5 star
Bubble tea – 1.5 star
hanco's vs Henry's sounds like a landmark case in front of the Supreme Court, right? It sure sounds like it, but no! It's merley 2 Vietnamese sandwich shops who serve similar items a few blocks away from each other, and because Henry left hanco's to open his own shop (Henry left again to open another shop) now both benefit from the competition…
All trivia aside, let's sandwich ourselves into the bubbly side of things: the "bubble tea" so on a hot Sunday afternoon I decided to get a lychee bubble tea from each location, and compare it… And the clear winner is: disclaimer: Henry's. (that's not to say it's the best bubble tea in town…) Henry out scored hanco's in every aspect of the bubble tea, sweetness, taste, etc. The tea was so overly sweet I simply couldn't finish it, and the lychee flavor had a artificial taste to it, it was so bad.
The reason I give this place a 3 star, and not a one star, is because I really loved the sofas in the back, the Free WiFi, and the specious layout. It has a very laid back, chill feel…
Note: This review is based only on their bubble tea.
Second best bahn mi sandwich in the South Slope. Sorry Hanco's, Henry's has you beat on the bread and the veg to meat ratio, but it's a very strong second. Quick, efficient service. I haven't tried the pho yet (still waiting for some cold weather) but a Vietnamese friend in the hood swears by Hanco's pho. And Hanco's does loyalty cards: buy 10 sandwiches, get the next one free. It's a nice treat!
At first glance. I thought this was just another fusion hipster joint that were over priced. Come to my surprise the food was amazing. Had the classic Banh Mi and their vermicelli salad and thai ice tea. I would definitely come back to try out other selections from their menu. I would recommend on weekdays where it isn't so busy and parking wasn't hard to find.
Hancos is a lifesaver. When I mean lifesaver, I mean that it saves me from having to go all the way to Chinatown for some Vietnamese food, and to me–that's frickin' lifesaving.
There's plenty of good food around Park Slope–sidewalk cafes, mom and pop restaurants, and even superstars like Talde not too far away. But when I'm in the mood for something fast, fresh, and tasty–Hanco's is where you'll find me. Their vermicelli bowls and banh mi's are my go-tos, and while I try to control my sugar intake most of the time–I can never resist getting some bubble tea with my meal. So if you're looking for the best viet around this part of town–Hanco's is the place to be.
