Love the flavors, love the portions, love the prices, love the concept.
Don't love that there's only one waffle maker, don't love that there's only one ice cream scoop (saw staff drop the scoop twice, and had to wash it before using again — thanks for washing at least!), and don't love the long lines.
I was excited to try this place since it's Summer and ice cream, what's not to love? I thought the place was kinda odd, it's basically just a counter with one employee slinging out ice cream. This place is incredibly tiny and there are only a handful of stools so eating out front will prob be your best bet. I thought the ice cream was just so so, I thought the ice cream was too sweet and the icy pieces really annoyed me. I also really hated that it basically started to melt the second the ice cream was handed to me.
The food:
Brady Bunch- Banana pudding, Vienna Fingers, and crushed vanilla wafers. I thought this was the best of the "bunch." The overall flavor was just OK, but the flavor of the banana seemed too artificial for me.
Ice Ice Baby- Triple vanilla. This is one of the few vanilla ice creams I have had in my lifetime that I really didn't like. The Ice Ice Baby was so sweet, I took a few bites and tossed the rest out. Not impressed at all.
Mint Condition- Natural mint and triple fudge chocolate brownie pieces. This was somewhat destined for failure since I am not a fan of mint ice cream to begin with but the version here was worse than other places I have tried. The mint flavor tasted very artificial as well.
The flavors were super creative and the pecan pie flavor made me nostalgic of childhood. The staff were really friendly. I got ice cream and it was very rich, sweet, and delicious. I couldn't eat all of it but that's not a testament to its ice cream. It was solid. I personally just couldn't handle all the sweetness. My husband got an ice cream waffle sandwich. The waffle was red velvet flavored!!! I wish they had more than one waffle maker but the staff warned us that there would be a wait for the waffle sandwiches. Great place in east village for great ice cream!!
On par with the best in new York, and their service is outstanding…
I'm not into the whole naming ice cream flavors, but his story is definitely an interesting one, and what's even more exciting are his flavors and Milkshakes! And I'm talking about the taste, not the uniqueness… To be honest, none of his flavors are really unique, but all of them are extremely flavorful and it's a plus that they let you try all the flavors before you decide.
Make sure when you decide to come here your stomach is super empty and your in the mood for something sweet!!! LOL I got the Mac daddy which is more than enough for one person with the mint ice cream with had pieces of brownie in it. Another word of advice is that the Daddy Mac is enough for two people to share. It's a really small place and it gets crowded. They make the red velvet waffle on the spot which is great the staff is friendly and helpful. If you go late they run out of flavors so try to get there early afternoon. The prices are good for the portions and the place is definitely worth visiting!!!
Wandered in here around 1030 on a Tuesday night (so very nice to know here open to late on weekdays) and there was a decent line, but moved pretty quick.
ALL I wanted was the flavor with strawberry and cheesecake but they didn't have anymore so I settled for the Foxy Brown I believe (?) which has some Oreos and sea salt caramel and idk what else. It was too salty for me. Should have went with the plain vanilla on the red velvet waffle- must go back for that.
My friend for the mint chip flavor and said it tasted like toothpaste so choose wisely. PLUS side though, you can try flavors, so I really had no excuse for not liking mine.
It's a super small place, but lots of famous people on the wall. Definitely worth a shot for some non ordinary flavors
The ice cream here is AMAZING!! While I love all the trendy and hipster ice cream options in the city, sometimes I just want some good ole old school sweet and creamy ice cream, and Mikey definitely hits the spot.
Also, if you don't want to wait in a 20-minute line over at Big Gay, Mikey is definitely the way to go.
I got a double scoop combo of Southern Hospitality (butter pecan) and Ice Ice Baby (vanilla), and it was so satisfying. The double scoop ($6) is really actually 4 full scoops of ice cream, so there's no skimping on the portions here.
Mikey likes it… Jennie LOVES it. No complaints here except they run out of things 🙁 well it's a hot spot what can I expect. Had a mac daddy with plain waffle and the strawberry, balsamic, cracked pepper ice cream and I'm drooling thinking about it. The perfect waffle for ice cream. Absolutely love this place and the theme. One day I'm going to just videotape all the patrons saying their orders it's hilarious when a 70 yr old man said "I'll take a Mac daddy with foxy brown" lmao!!! Hilarious!!!
