Really excellent curry rice bowl (but naming it "Tibetan Mama" seems semi-offensive) and shredded apple dessert, although I think I can make that apple stuff on my own in less than 3 minutes. Seating is abundant and the back room is very bright and cozy. One drawback is I wish the appetizer menu was less expensive and had more option for solo diners, since most items are meant to be shared.
Lovely staff, apart from the pushy busboy who really wanted us to leave who was grabbing things like as we placed them on the table. Took our water and never replaced it. Hrm.
My salad was super fresh but super boring. I was up charged for tofu, such that a 4-cup sized bowl with three cubes of it, lettuce, some pea shoots and some root vegetables was just short of $19. That's yikes-level pricing.
The place is really pretty, with bright tiles and cool dark wood fixtures. I just can't justify that much of a markup without the related wow factor.
I passed Le Botaniste while wandering on the Upper East Side a few weeks ago and I immediately thought to myself… charming, cute decor + Upper East Side + organic, healthy food = dinner date with BESTIE! And so, last night Bestie and I had dinner at Le Botaniste.
I initially went in thinking I'd get the Detox Salad, but I couldn't resist the aroma of the Tajine, which a woman in front of me had ordered. The vegetable stew was hearty and homemade, but I should have known to replace the quinoa with a different base since I'm unfortunately not one of quinoa's biggest fans. Bestie ordered the Tibetan curry bowl (she is such a coconut curry whore) – not only did it look extremely appetizing with it's turmeric golden color and fluffy brown rice, but it tasted awesome too! She was super smitten, and I was super jealous.
I'm sure I'll be back for the Tibetan bowl on a crisp Fall evening. 🙂
Was at the French Street Fete festival and came here with my love and great friends… Did not expect this at all. Red wine was screw top because it had no sulfate in it and chilled. Was a little weird but was kinda refreshing. Food was o.k. but kinda disappointed with presentation and flavor in some things.. I must say the potato spread was delicious and so was the pea spread. Sushi was blah and I love sushi…
Not only is this place beautifully decorated, but the food is fantastic too! the atmosphere is clean, trendy and very welcoming. There is a large counter where you order your food and can drool over all their fresh looking ingredients, as well as two different rooms where you can dine. Both rooms are comfortable and bright, but they each have a different feel. I decided to eat in the back room which had little tables and string lights.
I had read the rave reviews about the Tibetan Mama Rice Bowl and decided I had to try it. AMAZING! It was a generous portion and very filling. The brown rice was cooked to perfection; not mushy and with a little crunch. The coconut curry was thick, smooth as silk and full of flavor. I really enjoyed it in contrast with the kimchi, which was spicy and sour. The broccoli and kale added more texture to the dish the dish, which is very important. A great combination of flavors and consistencies.
The Green Pea Hummus is so refreshing! It tastes nothing like hummus, but is filled with the sweetness of the peas and hints of mint. I found the green pea hummus to be a bit overpriced for the quantity of hummus, especially since it only comes with two tiny crackers, but I enjoyed every bite nonetheless. My only big complaint was that my $3 iced green tea tasted like water.
I give this place 4.5 stars, but for Yelp I'm rounding up. I see a lot of potential in this place and hope to come back and try many more delicious dishes.
I hate to blame a place for not being what I was expecting, when it was still good on its own merits. But if you are hoping for a vegan version of LPQ, you probably won't like this. I thought this would be one of those trendy I-can't-believe-it's-vegan places, but it's actually more of a foreign-music-playing, hippie-vibe kind of place. I thought the food was good, and a lot of the dishes reminded me of things my mother makes in the blender.
The cutest little spot for plant based food. You enter the restaurant and it feels like you've been transported to a Parissiane Alice in wonderland themed restaurant. My husband is vegetarian so it's always a treat when he can get everything on the menu. We decided to get the meatless bolognese, the Miso soup noodle bowl and the curry bowl. I absolutely loved the gluten free pasta which was slow cooked with soylegnese. The food was very flavorful and you left feeling satisfied but not overly stuffed. My husband and I did the 30$ 3 hot bowl sampler which was a great way to try the different options.
Came here for a dinner date right before it was about to close. Talk about last minute dates! He ordered sushi and a bowl of spreads for the sliced breads. The sushi rice was hard and not exactly what I fancy. The spreads were interesting. I've had similar in raw vegan joints and Ethiopian. The most interesting spread looked like fish eggs that are usually on sushi.
There are standard seats in the front and the seats in the back are taller. The food stash and where you order is in the center.
We stayed here way past the closing time and there was still people in here! Staff was friendly. There's no waiter service.
