Think Coffee

“Cool coffee place right next to the High Line, so a good spot to stop by for a quick snack or some coffee before walking the High Line.”

“For those who do not consume dairy, they also offer almond milk and coconut milk for 75 cents extra.”

“Though it's located in a bit of a maelstrom at the moment, regarding the area's construction, it's wonderful to have it there, by the same token.”

  1. This part of Chelsea is going through a major wave of construction. You cannot go half a block without taking a sidewalk detour, due to all the construction. But give it a few years, this place will be beautiful, especially with the completed Hudson Yards.

This particular Think Coffee location is just a few steps away from the 30th street entrance to the High Line, and right across the street from the first completed building in the Hudson Yard project.

This Think Coffee location is more of a quick rest stop. It is much smaller than it's West Village location and unfortunately, they do not have beer on tap and wines. However, it still is such a lovable space with its bar stools and accommodating staff.

I drop in the mornings for my Tisserie baked goods and bagels.
The bagels are on the doughy side of things, but good.
I would not recommend their chocolate almond croissant though, because due to the nature of the almond paste, the croissant becomes very soggy.

I've seen a few people drop in with their laptops, but I cannot imagine it to be comfortable study joint due to the small bar tables and bar stools.

  2. The location of this Think Coffee is awesome. Located right near the entrance of The High Line, so it's a great place to grab a bite before going on a walk.

The folks that work here, at least when I visited, were clearly less than thrilled and were extremely cold. My friend had a few questions about some of the food options and the woman could hardly care enough to answer. The food we got was overpriced but delicious.

  3. This one is located right next to the northernmost entrance to the High Line. Perfect place to use the restroom. But they also have good coffee here so make sure to buy a cup if you're going to use the restroom. There is some seating but I can envision it getting very crowded.

  4. It's surprising to be the first to review a place in Manhattan.   Especially for someone who no longer lives here.  But passing by on my way to the Highline I stumbled on this place on 39th street.  Just near the Highline stairs.

Super friendly employee greated me.  I had a mint ice tea, medium was $2.75.  Small 2.50.  It's NYC.

This is a "chain", perhaps another 6 locations I guess.  I like the feel.

Outlets near the standing bars.  Useful.

    Lots of foot traffic.

Old Hendrix type music may have been a little heavy for 7 am but ok.

  5. This particular Think is in a very interesting location. It's in the midst of a giant area of construction, high rises in progress rising above, not too far from the Hudson Yards project. In the next few years, this area will transform, but for now, this is kind of in a messy area. To its credit, it is also a few steps off of the 30th Street Exit of the High Line, allowing those about to walk it or those leaving it to stop in for a quick drink or bite to eat. Quite frankly, it's welcomed.

The interior offers less seating than other Think locations, but there are two long tables and seating along the front. A few women were perched with laptops, while a few couples were chatting over lattes. The menu offerings are akin to any other location. The staff is friendly; I got into a great conversation with one barista about walking along the High Line and her desire to be a nurse and midwife. (Get it, girl!)

Though it's located in a bit of a maelstrom at the moment, regarding the area's construction, it's wonderful to have it there, by the same token. I look forward to visiting it on future High Line strolls.

  6. This place is pricey, but good. I wish they had a rewards program though! It would make me feel less guilty for spending so much money on coffee. I really enjoy their iced coffee (black of course) and their sweet treats. Their donuts are HUGE, I mean the size-of-my-head huge. My favorite so far is the café au lait. I've also had the coconut before too. I think the next one on my list will be the hibiscus donut. I recommend getting their cheddar biscuits too. If you love the Red Lobster cheddar biscuits, these are even better (and they're 4x the size!). The only thing I don't like is how they don't heat them up beforehand. They're 10x better when warm and steamy.

I'll be sticking to the coffee shop for now, but if a Starbucks opens soon, I might just go to that instead.
