  1. Dropped by here for a quick tea stop with a friend, thought this would be a great pass time. Tea-tender plops a menu in front of me, and I order a pot, as per the menu is $8.

Ask the server for another teacup (no extra tea or water was added to my pot) to share with my friend and was quickly provided. Everything is swell, i ask for the check…the server tells the cashier "she ordered the pot for 2" and I was rung up $15.76. What a surcharge for an extra teacup, guess next time I'll bring a spare to share.

  2. Ah gentrification, changing our economical landscape. Serengeti's a good example of how inherently un-evil gentrification can be. Instead of a verification of a "death of culture" it could be an opportunity for a refinement of culture (I say this coming from a neighborhood that could use less crackheads). Anywho–

Coffee and water can get so boring. And sugary drinks aren't going to get me that six pack, so tea it is! I say that as if I didn't already like tea. Truth is, I already drink an exorbitant amount of tea a day and now I CAN DRINK MORE! Seriously, my skin is drying out.

Their selection can be very fun. I personally gravitate towards anything milky, so I'll forever be sipping dat Nairobi Street Chai. It leans towards the dirty (bitter) taste, so be careful if you're looking for something sweet.  If you ask what's popular, you're gonna hear about their ginger tumeric; it is the whiskeys of tea. Ginger tumeric is not for the fainthearted and there will be a love/hate for that sting.

The atmosphere is a dimly lit wooden aesthetic: fun for rainy day reads. There's no wifi, so don't expect to get any work done here, sadly. But hey, you probably decided to come here to relax anyways.

  3. I was floored by the tumeric ginger tea when I visited this store. Strong, invigorating, deep resonating flavor. I left with two cups and bag worth. Good product. You will not find these flavors at Teavana.

The place is an oasis for a bibliophile wanting to feast on a few chapters. This place attracts many beautiful people, so beware…It is a friendly place. A warm place. If connecting to nice people is not your thing, there are coffee shops in the neighborhood for you.

The strawberry hibiscus is exclusively mine while I am there. I kid. (No not really…)

If you are a tea lover, this place is a gem!

    Enjoy.

  4. I've been wanting to come to Serengeti and explore what they have to offer. I treated my twin sister out for afternoon tea. Serengeti is very cute and compact. As soon as we went in, the many pleasant and pungent aromas, jumped at me- in a good way and quite honestly, thought that Serengeti in Harlem was going to be a keeper…

Menu is rich in flavors and offers different combinations. I settled for the Chocolate Chai, while my sister had the Lavender Vanilla. Interior is cute and adorned with their tea tins off on one side, along with some African decor and benches. Tea presentation was unusual and to maintain its heat, it was set on what looked like a glass double-boiler tea pot and a tea light underneath.

All cute, gotta give it to them. I was anxiously waiting for my Chocolate Chai and when it was brought over to the table, I was salivating…..I'm thinking- I'm in Harlem…and for sure it will be mo' better unfortunately, it was quite a disappointment.

Please don't take offense… But the cocoa flavor was not present at all- and I was not pleased by the taste.

Other than the absence of cocoa in my Chai…I feel like like I need to break it down for you…
Was service good? Of course! Attention to detail? Totally! Tea variety? Definitely! Would I come back? Yes…. To try their regular Chai.

  5. Tea has always been a part of my life and I drink it daily. Serengeti has an enormous assortment of tea and other herbal products. The customer service was top notch and I loved how they gave me their honest opinion about each drink, I genuinely respect that. Pricing was pretty fair about 4$ for a cup of tea. they have snacks too, I split a cinnamon bun with my girl; we both loved it. I will definitely be coming back here. 5/5 stars guys! keep it up !

  6. Soooo cute! This little Harlem gem is adorable. A few of my gals and I stopped in on a hot Harlem summer day for some tea. I ordered the hibiscus iced tea and it was refreshing & delicious! Maybe i went in on an off day, but it took them foreverrrrrrrrrr to ring me up for my tea. I was getting to the point where I just wanted to give it back and walk out. I'm an extremely patient person, but there was a hell of a lot of confusion going on. I'm sure I'll give it another try..hoping next time will be a swift checkout process.

  7. So awesome, I came in for a second drink. Teas are really flavorful and vibrant. The tumeric ginger is so strong and spicy! Really loved the strawberry hibiscus. They are so friendly and accommodating here. I thought the tumeric ginger was too much and he offered to mix the to to my liking.

Big plus are outlets and a clean bathroom!! Love it.

  8. *Calling all tea lovers!*

This has quickly become my new favorite place. They have SO many options to choose from here!  Once you enter the shop, the entire left wall is nothing but a variety of their brand of teas for purchase. On the right is the ordering counter and a row of bar seats. I'm a sucker for a fruity, refreshing beverage on a warm/hot (let's be honest, even cold) day, and this place delivers just that. They usually always have some sweeter tea beverages on stock for iced tea. I really recommend the Berry Hibiscus or Turmeric teas on ice. If you're like me and can't decide, ask for a sample! They will let you try just about anything you want.

The things to know about this location is that there isn't a ton of seating, so it's not really a place where you could set up shop to get some work done. It is, however, a great spot for meeting up with a friend, etc. Also, this is definitely a place where you pay for the quality.  I believe small drinks are about $4-5 each and go up in price from there. However, as you see them bring out the various tea concoctions with such vibrant colors in these cool glasses and tea pots, you'll also be willing to pay the price.
