  1. It's rare to find an ice cream shop where you do not find a single flavor you do not like. But at Van Leeuwen, you have plenty to choose from and each is amazing. The nice thing is that they also offer gluten free options, and trust me, there is a market for that here in good ol' Greenpint 😉 Clean establishment, friendly service, vinyl's playing for a nice hipster-like atmosphere and just good, delicious ice cream. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area, and with the G train conveniently located on the same block, it's a lot easier to make that happen!

  2. The ice cream here is wildly delicious.  Not loaded with sugar like Coldstone of Hershey's ice cream.  The flavors are so rich that the smallest size is usually pretty sufficient.  The non-vegan ice cream is great, but the vegan variety is even better.  Definitely the best vegan if cream I had.  I love that it is soy-free.  It's coconut oil based but not in a way that's watered down that you might find in supermarkets.  I'm pretty sure every flavor is beyond delicious.  It's definitely pricey but makes a great "Treat Yo Self" treat every now and then.  I've tried the dark chocolate (super rich like an actual piece of dark chocolate), the chocolate chip cookie dough (didn't even like cookie dough until now) and the pistachio, all of which were very good.

  3. This may sound basic but the vanilla is super amazing! It is not too sweet & it's so rich! To me, it tasted more like gelato than ice cream. And of course, I had to try pistachio!! It is not the artificial kind that is bright green. There are real pistachio pieces inside of it. I only tried the simple flavors, however I would like to go back and try the Earl Grey! Hopefully, it is not too bitter.

  4. So fantastic. Got the Earl Grey ice cream (and I don't even particularly like Earl Grey tea) and black sesame donut. The donut was cakey and icingless. My kind of donut.

  5. The city has suddenly become flooded with ice cream shops. All promising organic and natural ingredients.

The ice cream here was decent but nothing wows me about it. The flavors are pretty simple and…. Boring. The pistachio was just okay. The flavors reminded me of a dark green tea. The earl grey tea was okay. Not bad at all.

But overall nothing impressed me. The ice cream sandwich looked like a beast though. Maybe that's worth a try.

  6. This ice cream is absolutely superb!! I ordered one scoop of a special flavor of the day, Hazelnut Chocolate Rice Krispy ice cream on a cone and a pint of vegan ice cream with two flavors: Green Matcha Tea and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The vegan ice cream is made with cashew milk and was awesome. I couldn't believe how delicious it was and how much I enjoyed it. I brought it over to my friend's apartment who is vegan as a treat and it was a treat for me as well. I may just start ordering it for myself now as a matter of fact! The Green Matcha Tea was so flavorful and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was one of the best I ever had. The ice cream was so creamy you would never have known that it wasn't "real" ice cream. Although the prices are not cheap, the ice cream here at Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream is worth every penny. There are only a few tables but the environment is sleek, clean, and modern. You can't see the ice cream because it is behind the counter but the list of ice cream is on a chalkboard to the right of the cash register and espresso machines. I have a feeling that there isn't any flavor that wouldn't be superb.

  7. The Vegan Ice cream that's the one I always get from here quite a nice variety of different flavors all of them crafted and creamed perfectly, you cannot tell this isn't your typical Ice Cream made from milk and eggs because the ice cream here is blended to rich and creamy perfection.

Cute seaiting for a quick sit and lick but not a lot of space so take your cone and or cups of delightful ice cream and head on over to the gorgeous McCarren Park just down the block and around the corner from here.

Not sure of the flavor ask for a sample or two the'yre quite a happy bunch working here and want to you to be happy with your choice.

    Me… I love it!

  8. One Word "Amazing" I love Van Leeuwen from the moment I met their truck in Bedford Ave in Brooklyn, 5 years ago. Today this little Ice cream truck that could has grown to 3 locations in Brooklyn 2 in NYC and 3 in LA to keep the herds coming for more sinfully delicious ice cream with a great selection for all. The non-vegan and Vegan Ice creams scream love from the 1st lick. My 2 favorites are pistachio and Cookies & Creams.
