  1. Three stars here us for the friendly service and good beer selection at an affordable price. The German style pretzels leave much to be desired and are definitely below average. Good thing they're free with your first beer because I would never pay for one, even at the $4 price.

They don't taste fresh, even when they are and the flavor is not as robust as what one would like. I have had the cheddar truffle pretzel twice and am still trying to decipher why truffle is in the name. If you're looking for a beer go here but don't go for the pretzel.

  2. ok. I stumbled upon the Vanderbilt Urban space food court during a lunch break from a conference at a near by hotel.
I walk in I see the set up and food court (a lot of restaurants and options) in a very way hip setting !!
I see that all the restaurants in the food court here like 20 of them all have "examples" of they're food items: frankly it was truly interesting to see each restaurants "plastic" ? food examples ( its hard to explain but when you see them yull know what Iam describing)

so go to "Urabna Space" just for that spectacle and all the hip food and interesting people
it was like finding a hidden gem of a food court that I had no clue existed which is always a great thing in manhattan !

    now:
Sigmunds bar in the food court

Its basically a small bar with like, 5-7 seating space serving German beer in huge steins and pretzels…then I see this Rueben on the counter which caught my eye – BOOM! I want that !1 it looked so good !!
    perfect
yes! I sat down – the service was speedy !! one Rueben ( to preface I know my Rueben's !!! so they had been warned!))
    hahaha
I ordered the Sandwich with extra Sauerkraut sp? on the side and to drink one Raspberry lemonade…
bamm! it arrived in like under 5 minutes !! fast and speedy.
a total bonus when your there for lunch.
the Sandwich comes on Pretzel bread and I dug it actually it was just right …instead of the classic Rye.

Wow! both the Sandwich and the lemonade were awesome – fabulous!! delicious good !
the Raspberry lemonade was mind bending good ! and they have like five flavors so try them all…I will ! one day!

The woman serving on the bar: totally nice and just gave really great service !
I told her I was going to Yelp the place after I ate and she dug that!
and that the review was def Good!!

    yep!!
we exchanged notes on Rueben's and I pointed her to another place uptown as my favorite but in midtown this is the Rueben to beat !!
the corned beef on the sandwich was perfect – PERFECT !! DONT CHANGE A THING there: so tasty !! and just the right amount of fatty marbling in the meat – which is the true secret to a fine corned been Reuben !1
could have been a bigger portion but it did the job: I could have eaten two frankly…

Side note: It had hardcore real awesome mustard..and instead of the classic Rueben sauce:
(( thousand island with chopped pickles))
trust me the mustard was a nice change and the sauerkraut ohh-man! perfect !! really true homemade peppery strong nice sauerkraut yep i will be back –

Pickles with any Hofbrau sandwich is kind of mandatory so I would request that because they're were no pickles !! on the side Dang ! or perhaps home made cole slaw !!?? or both would have set it al off nicely.
    in any event

this is a cool hang out in a great place with plenty of options but like I said go to Sigmunds and get the Rueben !!  the service was perfect…
high recommendation – go there and check it out…
    see ya there…

  3. Bartender jack is the man! Very friendly and offers great recommendations for drinks and pretzels as I was a first timer! I had the feta and olive  so bangin! We also had the cheddar and truffle pretzel which was more cheddar than truffle as Jack mentioned. Finally we had the regular pretzel with the winterized fondu cheese Pilsner dip so good! Little heavy! Will def be back for the free pretzel with first beer deal at the bar…. Like every week!

  4. Went back for their famous Reuben sandwich, which consists of corned beef, sauerkraut braised with cider and caraway seeds, gruyere cheese and wholegrain mustard on a pretzel bun – the result is heavenly.  Bar none, one of the best sandwiches I've tasted in my life.  If it wasn't for the blah Merguez Sausage, this would surely be 5 stars.

  5. Even though it was only 3:30 on Saturday, they were running out of Pretzels (plain ones). Also, the Pretzels were ice cold and he wasn't heating them up for anyone. He was cleaning up early and his girlfriend was sitting there waiting for him. Would not bother to return. Even gourmet pretzels taste like crap when they are cold. Waste of money

  6. Two stars only because I haven't tried this location.
I went to the location at City Kitchen. I was very disappointed even though the price was right. Maybe a soft pretzel isn't what I thought it should be. This was my first soft pretzel!
Texture: I found it to be doughy in a bad way. It was like rubber. It wasn't hot.
Taste: I had the Gruyere Paprika Pretzel. I thought it was pretty tasteless. I'm not into sauces. I want it to have a taste all its own!
I was very disappointed but ate it. I was hungry!
I'm not sure I'll ever try a soft pretzel, or Sigmund's again.

  7. Friendly staffer dished up a tasty, warm Pretzel (Classic) $4.00 then made some conversation about their new Square register chip reader.

Prime location near one of the entrances/exits, with some counter space and a more-than-pretzels menu.

Pretzel (Cinnamon Raisin) $4.00 was dropped on the ground & tossed first, then the replacement was solid, but not much in the cinnamon department.

  8. Stood there for at least 10 mins wanting to order something. Meanwhile the only guy worker there was chatting away with three guys drinking beer. Yeah, never ordering from here again from this dude
