  1. There's just something decadent about letting someone else pump your gas. Even in New Jersey, where "full service" is a legal requirement.

This station is just around the corner from the car rental return entrance and so I'm sure that it gets a lot of its business from people topping up before returning the car. That's why I was there!

Easy enough to get into and out of, the attendant was polite and efficient. No complaints at all!

  2. I lucked out because there weren't any lines to get full-service gas here.  To no one's surprise, it is a bit pricier than other gas stations, but you can't beat its convenient location.  I was minutes away from the car rental agencies, so that was awesome.

As a Californian, NJ gas by the airport is still ridiculously cheap.  FML!

  3. This is on the outskirts of Newark Airport.  It is a large, well-lit station located close to terminal A.

After Super Storm Sandy last October, they worked with an airline to provide gas to employees to ensure they were able to get to work using gas vouchers.  At that time a lot of people at work and around the state had "gas phobia".

Also has a convenience store and sells lottery tickets.  This is where my company powerball pool bought their tickets. (obviously, no we didn't win the $600 million)

  4. The prices at this Gulf are outrageous. I know it's probably because its on Newark Airport property and directly across from the car rental center but really, who are you kidding with these prices. The car wash is the worst and only good if you want to strip the finish off of your car. Get gas at Wawa or Hess and you'll save yourself a bundle.

  5. This Gulf is located on Newark Airport on the south west side near Elizabeth. If you are not familiar with the Airport it might be hard to find. If you enter the Airport from North Ave/Earhart Drive you will run into it as you head towards the Terminals. If you are on the terminal road, if you can figure out  how to get into the A-1 Courtyard (arrivals level bus lot) you can get to it from there. Not easy.

Gas is slightly higher here. Approximately .20 more than the Wawa and Hess on 1&9 in Elizabeth.

It is open 24 hrs as is the 7-11 which is right next to it. The 7-11 is pretty large and has all the usual convenience items.

  6. I was en route to the airport to drop off my car and catch a flight when I realized that I had forgotten to refill my rental. Luckily for me, this Gulf station was staring right in front of me when I realized it.

The prices looked decent ($3.65 for regular at the time), and I was lacking options and time, so I pulled in to fuel up.

Not being from Nj, I had forgotten that the pumps are full service. Why the good people of Nj feel this is necessary is beyond me.

There was only one man working the pumps and there were 6 pumps open. He seemed to be struggling. The line for the pumps was several cars long.

While I waited, a man in ripped jeans (boxers visible through hole near crotch) decided to get out of his car and start screaming at the top of his lungs. (NY accent) "Whays tony! Every f$@#ing time I come here there is only tree pumps open! I'm on official guvament bizness!" I'm really curious what kind of business he does for the government, because that's a bit terrifying. It went on and on for about 10 minutes until his car was fully gassed up.

I finally get into the pump after a 10+ minute wait and ask for 4 gallons of gas. That mystified the poor man working the pumps, so he filled it completely instead.

Apparently, Tony needs to get it together here!
