  1. *di parama D.O.P (San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, basil, prosciutto di parma, extra virgin olive oil; the prosciutto was sooo good! Loved the flavor. I wish they put more slices on the pizza itself; not sure where they got their basil but it was so fresh and glad that they didn't bake the hell out if it; not a fan of their crust though, it was definitely disappointing. the crust was thin but it was really burnt which was not pleasing to the palette because everything else was so light and simple)

The truck has only several pizzas on their menu. It's like high end pizza in a truck but I honestly don't think their food is that great. I give them credit for having fresh ingredients but that crust just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I'm just spoiled with brick oven pizza but I won't be ordering from here again.

  2. To be completely honest, I did not have high expectations for pizza from a truck, but my office decided to try the catering here for the first pizza Friday of 2014 so here we are!  I was pleasantly surprised by the light, thing, slightly crispy crust topped off with a EVOO-based sauce, basil, and fresh mozzarella (I have only tried the margherita).  The individual-sized pies were very cute, as well, although a slice (aka a quarter of a Celeste Pizza For One-sized pie) was hardly filling.  Well, at least that's a way for them to increase their average unit of sale…  Anyhow, the pizza is solid and a great option if you are looking for a light yet satisfying comfort food.

  3. The truck was parked in SoHo a few weeks ago and I was starving. Presto. It was freezing outside but NE was pumping out piping hot pizza pies. I got the regular bufala pie and the price was not bad. Scarfed down at home minutes later. Too bad I haven't seen them around since, guess the SoHo scene was a little slow.

  4. Wanted a quick snack and this truck was parked outside. Put 1+1 together you have me trying a pizza trucks pizza. I didn't want a lot so a bud and I shared a Margherita pie (fresh mozzarella, basil, and sauce). Measuring in at about 10 inches. Cost $9 plus tax.

Kudos on the fresh pizza option.
Kudos on the environmentally friendly pizza box that converts to 4 plates and a smaller storage box for leftovers.
Kudos on the simple clean truck.

The pizza tasted alright, but the sauce was a little bland and watery.

Honesty could have eaten one pie by myself but I wanted to have less and try it.

I appreciate the option but the cost and lack of flavor has left me satisfied with having half a pie.

I would prefer if Forchella (Bowery) opened a pizza truck, their pizza tops this one. I wouldn't return but I wouldn't turn it down if someone bought me some from Neapolitan Express.

  5. Neapolitan Express serves freshly made personal pizzas out of the prettiest, environmentally friendly food truck I think I've ever seen. This Thursday, they were on the northwest corner of 47th and Park.

The food is good – the pizzas are about 9-10" across, thin crust, New York/Neapolitan style. The sauce is a bit watery, but its still tomatoey. The topping distribution depends on the time of day you order. If its busy, the toppings are a bit slimmer, not as prettily placed, and may appear disappointing. I had four slices of prosciutto on my Parma. The Diavlo was similarly slim on the salami. The basil looks great, the cheese is solid. They also don't overload the pizza so it gets soggy and falls apart, so its probably a good enough mix. The pizzas are made to order and baked long enough to have a chewy crust with flecks of crispy sooty bubbles – great balance for for a quickly made pizza. And the wait is about 10 minutes, which is also not terrible. That said, the pizza falls squarely between the best slice ever and the buy by the slice options within walking distance of the truck. Good for a quick pizza pick me up, but not a culinary must have, hence the 3 stars.

The commitment to be sustainable is admirable – the truck runs on clean energy and donates profits to charities, all listed at their website. The box converts into four "plates" and a smaller to go box and its recycled paper. If you're the type to vote with your wallet, Neapolitan is a good bet for you, and would be a four star vendor for you.

In addition, the pies range from $9 to $11, making it a fairly competitive lunch option. They offer four to six types of pizza, which are all pretty simple. They have a nutella pizza for you crazy chocolate hazelnut spread lovers.

Staff are good at their jobs. They take credit cards. I wish they offered garlic powder or chili flakes.

  6. Looking for a quick bite, mon compain and I headed to Neopolitan for some pizza. The neat thing about Neopolitan is that their ingredients are all organic. This may not matter to you much, but I'm just mentioning this for anyone who might care. It made me feel better about all the pizza I was about to consume!

We were told that the pizza is made just like it is in Naples, so if anyone wants to confirm this ….

Anyways, simply put, the pizza is delicious!! I can't accurately remember the names … We ordered the Davalio (sp?) and the DOP (sp?). The DOP (mine) was so savory with a good amount of arugula and prosciutto! It has a little bit of olive oil drizzle and was very yummy. I think my boyfriend's Davalio pizza was the star though. It includes this wonderful sweet sauce with salami and jalapeños. It has the perfect amount of sweetness with a little kick. I am definitely going to order that next time. The pizzas are personal-size, so I recommend that each person orders their own.

The space is kind of like a workshop. It is very airy with a large glass window, and it looks so nice! I love restaurants where the neighborhood becomes part of its design.

  7. What a delight this truck is! At $7-$9 a personal pizza, this makes for an affordable midweek splurge. The ingredients are very fresh, and make for an authentic brick oven treat for your weekday lunch at the office. I crave this truck often, and best of all, I don't feel guilty after gobbling it all up! Though it's a whole pizza, it's very light and crisp. The Eco-friendly nature of this truck is a bonus! The margherita is definitely worth a try for those sporadic pizza urges you know you totally have!

  8. The Neapolitan Express food truck was parked near my office today in Midtown so I decided to give them a try and bought a Margherita for $9.  The people who ran the food truck didn't seem entirely happy to be there (possibly because there was not too much business) which unfortunately seemed reflected in the food.

My pizza dough was rubbery and undercooked, the sauce was tasty but scarce and all in all it was very underwhelming and I certainly would never eat from them again.  They claim to make pizza like they do in Naples and maybe they mean they are following some kind of technique but in terms of quality they are nowhere near it.  Live and learn.  The next time I want a decent pizza I'll go to the local pizza place instead.
